Final Fantasy II J FAQ

Final Fantasy II J is one of the more lesser known Final Fantasy's around. It didn't hit the US until much later after it's original debut (although it was probably translated in english on emulator before it came here).

FF2J is a little strange. Unlike other Final Fantasy's, you do not gain levels. Rather you gain stats like Pwr and Vit depending on your actions during battle. If you attack, you'll gain weapon / pwr ability. If you exhaust your HP and MP, you'll gain those two. And so on. The actual battle is pretty similar to the first yet the attack % makes it a little hard. There is still the ineffective problem too.

The story revolves around the three surviving characters (Guy, Maria, Firion) and their quest to find the other member Leon and fight the empire.
