I have a strong urge to play through FFL2 and FFL3 in solo mode. There's one problem, though; both games revive dead characters and set them to 1 HP at the end of every battle!
So, out of curiosity… does anyone have codes to set party members to petrified status?
July 17, 2010 at 2:47 pm #38265NiahakModeratorI'm afraid I don't, but I know there's a guy who's done some editing of FFL2 at least on the game's GameFAQs message board. He may have an idea.
I wish you the best in your endeavor, though. Both fun games. Good luck with Magnate and Odin (FFL2). Those guys always destroy my party when it's *full* and pretty well grinded (ground?) up. FFL3 I don't remember being that hard, aside from the one guy who actually does petrify your party ;)
July 17, 2010 at 2:53 pm #38266DragonAtmaModeratorWell, the main problems will be the exploding FFL2 boss and the FFL3 special attack D-Force; I may have big trouble dealing with them alone. :/
July 17, 2010 at 3:28 pm #38267DragonAtmaModerator….I am embarrassed to point out that gamefaqs already has the ffl2 codes I hoped for; with any luck I can adopt them for ffl3 as well.
For reference, these are for petrifying FFL2 characters:
011006C2
011026C2
011046C2
011066C2
011086C2
And judging by the first cave Maso may be FORCED to be a robot (or perhaps a slime), which can cause problems later on…
July 17, 2010 at 4:07 pm #38268NiahakModeratorYeah, Robots are too squishy against magic, and monsters are… well… monsters. I'd think a mutant would be ideal, given you get a Parasuit later on and you can train up defense as well. It'd be slow going for a good while, though…
Too bad you can't keep Mr. S for a while longer, and you won't get Ki until after the Ruins of the Ancient Gods.
July 17, 2010 at 5:28 pm #38269cabalpapaParticipantAre we talking the old Gameboy FF games?
July 17, 2010 at 5:58 pm #38270DragonAtmaModeratorSaga, technically, but they did use the FF name.
And I tried a mutant first and a human second; Maso kept getting slaughtered, unfortunately.
September 16, 2010 at 10:35 am #38271DragonAtmaModeratorOn a late note, you CAN play as a human or mutant! Just keep in mind that msot of the battles there will slaughter you. Therefore, using the hometown for healing, you must do this:
(1) Run from every encounter except Gang*1
(2) Keep beating them up until they drop a Punch (shouldn't take too many).
(3) Fight some more Gang*1 enounters, using the Punch on the first attack and then attacking with your strongest weapon.
(4) As the Punch gets used up and you get slightly less feeble, upgrade to two uses of it per battle, eventually facing Gang*2+ and/or using irt as your only weapon.
(5) When it's down to 20-30 uses, enter the cave, fleeing from every enemy, and take the caveboss out with a single punch. You're free!
Honestly, it feels like starting DoaE with ONLY the song brothers… which is probably easier! XD
And for those asking, Maso (who just entered Venus's world) has 595 HP, stats of 33/38/33/22, Laser Sword*42, Psi Dagger*40, Flame, Cure, Hermes boot, Gold Helmet, Giant armor, Giant gauntlet. She also has some useful items, like a Kick*5 waiting for the next boss battle!
December 16, 2010 at 9:19 am #38272DragonAtmaModeratorOn a late FFL3-based note…
Human Male: 014001C5
Mutant Male: 014061C5
Mutant Female: 0140C1C5
Human Female: 014021C6
5th Characters: 014081C6
Obviously, you'll want to leave out the code for the character you don't want petrified! In my case, I'm using the mutant female; thanks to lots of training (she's currently level 17), she's hopefully about to give Dogra a good kick upside the… everything?
December 21, 2010 at 10:19 pm #38273DragonAtmaModeratorYou'll be happy to hear that Maso has finished FFL3. Soloing can be a pain in the tail, but she pulled through. The last three bosses were annoying, though; in particular, Maso had to do a huge amount of levelling (level 47 at one attempt on Agron, level 59 or so when Maso beat him, and level 80 when she finally beat Ballor!). And ironically, That One Boss (Chaos) was surprisingly easy.
For those of you who are curious:
* Maso needed to revert to a pre-pureland save to bring a mage armor to pureland, as it was too late to get it after you go there and it was the only way to stop Fenrir from confusing her. Not surprisingly, I kept it until she got her first ribbon.
* Maso was level 83 when she beat Xagor; with max-speed equipment she ALMOST always went first at 80, while the last three levels removed the 'almost'.
* Seriously, bring the Mage Armor to Pureland and hold onto it. You'll thank me.
* Maso spent the whole game as a mutant.
* Maso had two phases: (1) grind, (2) dive into dungeons and flee form all but bosses.
* The Excalibur is overpowered; even for mutants, it's Maso's best anti-boss weapon from when you get it until the end of the game… unless, of course, you're a monster, even though you'll probably be leveled high enough that human/mutant are much stronger than even the top usable monsters.
* Did I mention that you'll need the Mage Armor?
June 19, 2011 at 5:31 pm #38274Jiang WeiParticipantyes you did and there is away to get there is a way to get a ribbon at the beginning of the game i forgot how but i just checked my game and i'm only lvl 6 and my leaded red has a ribbon equipped
