Hey you're back, how were your dates :p?
It's good to see that you're still doing fine, took your time dealing with DoaE stuffs. Right now I have no DoaE question for you but I hope you will get time to check the board regularly in case we have problem by accident.
Take care…
DoaE gave birth to Huo Hu.
January 31, 2012 at 5:13 pm #41701DragonAtmaModeratorIf someone tries to run from a battle three times and fails, there's a large chance they think it's unrunnabe… and if you try and run from a boss battle three times with those odds, there's a 2/3 chance (technically 343/512) that all three fail!
January 31, 2012 at 8:45 pm #41702sonic.penguinModeratorMeteorstrike Ive got a winner question… download Midknights IPS patch and find out why the gold reads 010 in the menu screen upon starting a new game and also why the level always stays at level 01 on the same screen.
Can you find those addresses which got typoed so I can fix these in my mod before a beta release?
February 2, 2012 at 2:07 pm #41703MeteorStrikeParticipantIt says "doae_ips_patch_1.1.zip' is unavailable. This file was deleted."
I think the SOPA virus is spreading!
On that note… here's a neat little video I watched recently:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJIuYgIvKsc
In summary: The companies who own sites like download.com, which are the sites who have made file-sharing software available for over a decade, are the same companies that are now suing people for downloading pirated content, making millions in ad revenue while providing the people with said software, and are now the supporters of SOPA and other such legislation.
I never thought about it until I watched his video, but he's freaking right! THE place to download these file-sharing software has always been download.com ( and I guess other similar sites ) which are also owned by corporations who distribute content that is now pirated. How freaking ironic is that? Sounds like they need to put the CEOs of those same companies behind bars instead of the average citizen. They are traitors to the welfare of the corporations they manage! And here I thought Lu Bu was the only traitor guided by greed! :p
February 2, 2012 at 8:45 pm #41704sonic.penguinModeratorWill have to take a look at that :S BTW, here is a new link I uploaded his patch on my 4shared DoaE_IPS_Patch_1.1.ips
February 8, 2012 at 10:36 pm #41705MeteorStrikeParticipantOh I figured I should mention that I will need to look at this at a later time. It's tax week for me, and I also have catch-up at work too. :p
But honestly, the best person suited to "fix" a mod is the person who created the mod. So if Midnight made this patch, he should be able to explain why this is happening.
He either did it intentionally, or he used certain data which he overrode as part of his mod due to running out of space ( and he may or may not be aware of this side effect ) or he just completely mucked up something he shouldn't. I'm guessing he did this intentionally to use that space for something else in his mod… Otherwise, let this be a lesson why you can't just add code all over the place without verifying that the space isn't used for something else! :)
February 8, 2012 at 10:40 pm #41706sonic.penguinModeratoractually, we were testing different formats one day for moving portraits around and I think all the different tries caused a typo. I think this was Door 3 in that it wasn't intentional. I haven't been able to reach him for the past few weeks. Do me a favor and drop a meteorstrike on his house or something. Last I heard he was doing stuff for work in GA.

I should make a topic titled "The misadventures of MeteorStrike's disastrous dating life!" I just had another crapper and I felt like venting a little bit.
The latest mishap? Met this girl from the dating site, really cool, smart, cute, funny, great friendly personality, and a wonderful smile. She was even studying at DigiPen to be a graphics programmer. While discussing, I actually did mention the "NES debugger" thing, and she even found it quite interesting!
She seemed like she was really interested and kept on asking me all kinds of questions about me in general. We even went for a little walk afterwards while continuing the talk. I didn't really know what to say too much, so I guess I made the mistake of not asking enough about her, but oh well. I was definitely interested, but I guess I'm just the shy type… Plus, she dominated the QA session too, so…
At the end, I told her to message me from the site if she was interested in meeting up again, so that it would be up to her. (no pressure kind of deal) And right then and there, right to my face, she said while smiling (as she had during the rest of the date), "Actually, I can tell you right now, I probably won't want to meet up with you again. But you're a really great guy. Take care!" I mean wow… Now I'm left scratching my head wondering WTF went wrong there. She did a complete 180 of what I thought she was thinking! Oh well!
She also seemed to have this obsession with trying to guess my Myers-Briggs personality type. Maybe she was asking so much about me merely to figure that out, and then feel like she "figured out someone she just met" which is kind of ironic that a smart girl like her would feel like she can truly "figure out" someone from meeting them for an hour. I behave different on different circumstances anyway. I think everyone does, especially when they are on a first date.
Next up: going to a BDSM club! I think at this point I'm done with dating! I'll just get my kinks elsewhere! :) The stripper I was messaging before was clearly not really interested, and I met another stripper at another club that pretended to be interested too. (Duh, I wonder why) I might go back to that one a few times just for fun, but seriously, I'm not so stupid as to think a stripper is interested in anything other than money.
For the record, I've never been stupid enough to believe that, but I always figured, what the heck, right? Exchanging e-mails is not a biggie anyway. Of course, it's pointless, as the times it has happened to me have proven this. At least the fantasy of dating a stripper becomes a little bit more real for a few days when that happens, heh? ;)
OK, I think I'm done ranting about girls now. I apologize to the people on this board who are expecting DOAE discussions and stuff. I just felt the need to vent a little, but seeing as how I'm done dating, I doubt I will annoy anyone with my rants about that anymore… sorry! :)
February 20, 2012 at 6:23 am #41708Zhuge LiangParticipantHaha why apologize, it was quite an interesting story to hear. Tell us more if you have something funny to talk about in your next dating-quests.

February 20, 2012 at 6:31 am #41709DragonAtmaModeratorEh, don't worry; you're far from the only one to have dating disasters. Back in 2003 I was dating someone, and someone else wanted to date me… so she spread lies about me to my GF until I was dumped, But the time my ex-gf found out that they were, indeed, lies, it was too late, and the third wheel OF DOOM was permabanned.
And that's why I haven't dated anyone since 2003 and have no intention to do so within the next few centuries.

EDIT: OMG I just realized that DragonAtma just made a reference to himself that was not on the 3rd person! :O
Wow, since 2003? That's quite a dry-spell heh? Actually, I seriously suck at dating, so for me, it has been longer than that. After college, I had a bunch of "job-hopping" experiences from city to city ( not really intentional, mind you, that's just how it worked out ) so I never had the chance to really settle down and look for someone until recently…
Update: She messaged me back to reply to my message where I asked her about that. She said that everything was great, except she was looking for someone that had an established circle of friends, and that does other activities with such friends. Since I have practically no friends in real life ( primarily due to all the moving ) she was not interested. I guess she thought I might be "too needy" if she was the only "real person" in my life. It sure makes me feel like the "looser nerd with no real friends, so I don't even want to come near him!" type of guy… :/
I am so bummed by this… Back in 2010 on my last job, I was sitting next to a girl that was a programmer, that was doing some smart-phone programming with some friends and family and selling their software, that was really smart, nice, cute, sweet, and unbelievably hot. Unfortunately, she was married. She had raised the bar of my expectations, as far as what I wanted in a match. As time passed by, I've "lowered my bar" of expectations, thinking things like "well, maybe she doesn't have to be in the software / game industry, maybe she doesn't have to be all -that- smart, maybe she doesn't have to like games, etc."
Well this girl I met today just completely re-raised the bar again all the way up there… Now once again I feel like I will never find someone quite like her. This is a little pathetic, but it almost makes me want to cry… ( Well she probably won't find these boards so who cares if I say that. ) I mean she just blew my mind. I know I don't really -know- her, but everything I learned about her today was just amazing in my opinion. Now I'll probably have to wait a couple of months to a year before my dating bar of expectations lowers again to something realistic.
Oh, and the BDSM club I mentioned? That's actually real. They have one about 10 miles from where I live. I guess I can go there and at least check out the place for a while, even if I don't actually do anything. ( I'm not the type of person to jump in bed with someone just like that, but seriously, that option is becoming more and more attractive as I become more and more disillusioned about dating… )
Also, thanks guys, I guess if I was on the other side of the screen reading this, I might find it mildly amusing and interesting too, but I also realize that's not the purpose of this board / topic. It sure helps to vent a little sometimes though…

Amazing!
February 20, 2012 at 4:24 pm #41712sonic.penguinModeratorQuote:as time passed by, I've "lowered my bar" of expectations,Meh, I'm sure any person who did find an interesting at modding and did find these boards just to find you're always going to the strip joints, would probably get turned off pretty fast. Granted I'm married, but one thing I know is that the ladies tend to get really angry/jealous of "sharing" their man.
advice 2.0 is that the ladies are "turned on" by words as much as… other things. No really, it activates the same area of their brain physically. So the advice in the future would be to focus more on asking THEM questions and listening as much as you can bear…. which is hard, I know >_< Like the saying goes, its better to have people think you're a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt :)
advice 3.0 I never asked for a persons email, it always seemed creepish? I don't know. Here is what I do know, if they really are interested, and you provide them with a blast of a good time, which generally includes lots of laughs and fun stuff like laser tag or discussing politics (that is if you agree on them) and THEY will ask for your personal numbers/info, etc without you even trying. When they know youre more interested in just having fun rather than getting a number/email, it takes the pressure off. Catch my drift?
After I got engaged I had a gal who was once a former olympic skater ask for my number/email/etc. I said okay, but never got back to her so I wouldn't p*** off my fiancee/now wife :)
February 21, 2012 at 12:00 am #41713MeteorStrikeParticipantWell, for your 1st advice, I don't "always go to strip clubs" and in fact I am only going now once in a while because I'm still single. If I was in a relationship, I wouldn't even need to go to a strip club in the first place. ;) Although I can understand that mentioning that in a profile can be a turn-off, I think women who think that single guys aren't doing things like that (while they are still single) are just delusional at best. It's just a little bit of honesty I am putting out there, even though I realize sometimes there's definitely such thing as "too much information" but whatever. Aside from that, you're right that women will generally not find "modding" interesting though, but in my defense, I don't exactly say that either. I only told this girl because she's a programmer and she found it interesting. :)
The 2nd advice makes sense and I agree with it, but I just draw a blank when I'm under pressure. Maybe I should prepare before going on a date the next time. (Assuming there will ever be a next time…)
For 3rd advice, I actually never do this. I do -not- ask women for their info. The 2 strippers that gave me their info actually volunteered this information. I never asked them for it. As for the girls from the dating site, I simply message them through the site, so I don't ask them for any info either. Believe me, I completely agree with this item also, so I never ask women for their info! :)
