Level 73 was when I had enough agility to hit trapdoors twice pre-disrupt, and thus it was the level I took them out. EvilWall was easy by then! Now I have Cecil, Edge, the Qiao sisters, and Zhang Zhao’s grandfather. Time to go deal with the Giant of Bab-il!

August 14, 2008 at 5:12 am #35538DragonAtmaModeratorIIRC I was level 78 by the time I reached it, so I had no problem. It’s like the battle with TrapDoors, except he had more HP but needed several turns to unleash his deadly Crush attack.
Something like half the TrapDoors required a reset (due to not getting two attacks in before the fatal Disrupt), but that "boss" died on my first attempt.
August 16, 2008 at 7:00 pm #35539Perhong_AngtongParticipantFor the trap doors, I wouls have suggested buying an Aegis Shield from the land of the summons (Or whatever it’s called, I don’t remember, I’ve got used to land of the Eidolons and the Feymarch.)
Aegis shield is supposed to protect against instant death attacks, like the ones those trap doors do…
On the other hand, it would be VERY hard getting to that village without Rosa to cast float…

August 16, 2008 at 9:49 pm #35540DragonAtmaModeratorAegis Shield didn’t stop Disrupt, unfortunately. It did, however, weaken attacks form some other monsters.
And thanks to the Drain Sword, I had no trouble, except for a few monsters (such as TrapDoors and Molbols). When enemies smack me for 1 damage and I smack them to absorb 500 HP, those floors aren’t a threat! XD
Unfortunately, even though I saw Yang, I didn’t return to see Yang’s Wife until after I blew up the giant. And Asura healed herself fast enough that battle against her were useless wastes of time (unless she eventually runs out of HP).
August 17, 2008 at 4:51 am #35541DragonAtmaModeratorAaaand Zeromus becomes the Drain Sword’s final victim. He never even got Cecil below 64xx/90xx HP! It was funny watching his Meteo miss almost every time.
With three exceptions (Kainazzo, Valvalis, and the @^$#$@#*^@&^ing TrapDoors), FF2 was noticably easier with solo Cecil in the back row.
And no, I didn’t bother to get most of the final equipment.

You should fight the other bosses just to complete the challenge.
And I wonder if there is any way for you to take on the special bosses in the second play?

I believe he was playing the original version, not the DS one.

August 18, 2008 at 9:01 pm #35544DragonAtmaModeratorAtma only plays the real versions, not the remakes! [except when the real version is japanese-only]
