As I’m sure you know, Squeenix decided to chaneg spell names from Fire/Fire2/Fire3 to Fire/Fira/Firaga. To be hoenst, I prefer the old names. What about you?

They used Fire 1, Fire 2, etc. for the longest time, but eventually they came up with new names for the spells which they use in their little Final Fantasy universe. Since then they’ve appeared in every new Final Fantasy game (I can think of) and all the remakes.
I like some old-school elements in games. I was really happy when Tellah called Edward a Spoony Bard in FF IV DS. But imagining someone calling out "Fire 3!" doesn’t have much appeal. I commend the originality.

I don’t mind Cure to Cura or Cura to Curaga…it’s when they throw in Curaja that they ruin it. Curaga / Curaja? How is one supposed to know the difference (of course besides the fact that you get one before the other)? At least with Cure 3 Cure 4 it’s pretty clear which one is stronger.

August 19, 2008 at 6:47 pm #35879Xian Zhu XuandeParticipantCuraga vs. Curaja used to confuse me, but only for a little while in only one game. The MP cost always served as a good reminder of the difference. At least they are consistent across all their Final Fantasy world titles. That way you only have to figure it out once and you’re set for good.

August 20, 2008 at 5:11 pm #35882Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYes this is true they are probably not buying a remake like this.

I was always partial to Fire 1/2/3, though.
