I'm sure many of you know that Sima Yan's heir Sima Zhong (second emperor of the jin dynasty, and great grandson of Sima Yi) was retarded and, therefore, his regent would be emperor in all but name (thus causing the War of Eight Princes over who would be regent). Thing is, the war of eight princes occured only eleven years after Jin conquered Wu. If Liu Bei had some other heir (say, Liu Feng), it's entirely possible that Shu and Wu would still be around when the war of eight princes started — and that would cause jin to get clobbered.
January 23, 2012 at 8:26 pm #41799sonic.penguinModeratorWhy is it any of these guys w/ the last name "zhong" are having that kind of issue? Han Zhong, Sun Zhong, Sima Zhong? etc
January 23, 2012 at 11:01 pm #41800DragonAtmaModeratorYaarrrr! The second name be the given name, matey!
…And Han Zhong is still building a bridge to the 22nd century. >_> <_<
January 24, 2012 at 6:38 pm #41801Jiang WeiParticipantsome other things that would of changed history if they occured
1.pang tong lived
2.zhang ren joined liu bei
3.guan yu was never captured by wu cause liu feng sent the reinforcements
4.lu bu joined any of the three kingdoms and was not killed after he was captured
5.dian wei and/or cao ang lived thru that night attack by jia xu
6.liu bei's and sun quan's heirs weren't stupid or tyrants (i'm counting all of sun quan's heirs)
January 24, 2012 at 8:59 pm #41802sonic.penguinModeratorJust out of curiosity, how goes the Nanman mod? Actually this has a lot of potential to make an interesting and somewhat funny story… Hmmm, hope you're doing your homework on it, or I just may start one too :)
January 24, 2012 at 9:39 pm #41803Jiang WeiParticipantbadly the hexing program i was using no longer works or should i say is temperaily down
but i finished the lvling up and seperate tp/tactics/lvl and am currently working on new tactics and weapons (need to find where to add the new weapon and armor coding) after that i will try to work on the story a little (texting and maping is not my strong point) and there arn't alot of nanman hero's but when i am done you will no longer be able to recruit enemy hero's
the new stats and formulas seem to work like i want them too but still need a little work
i may have to start over from scratch though which will really ruin my day
January 24, 2012 at 9:47 pm #41804sonic.penguinModeratorI use XVI Hex Editor, its pretty easy
January 25, 2012 at 1:39 am #41805DragonAtmaModeratorQuite frankly, I think Lu Bu is overrated. Sure, he';s good at fighting, but I doubt he's betetr than average at leading troops.
If Pang Tong lived, he may have helped; he may have not. Zhuge Liang picked very capable successors, so I don't know if Pang Tong would have improved ove rthem, and by 253 (when Jiang Wei took over), Pang Tong would be 74.
If Guan Yu wasn't captured, then yeah, Liu Feng may well have lived. Do keep in mind that Guan Yu was likely 59 when he died.
Zhang Ren's a good officer, but what could he offer that the likes of Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Huang Zhong, and Ma Dai couldn't? And for the record, no, Zhang Ren didnt historically plan the ambush that killed Pang Tong; that only happened in the novel.
Dian Wei was a bodyguard, not a soldeir; his prsence would not change things. Cao Ang surviving may have had an effect, maybe not. Do remember, though, that Cao Pi, Cao Zhi, and Cao Zhang were all sons of Lady Bian, whereas Cao Ang was the son of one of Lady Ding's servants (later consort). Cao Chong living would probably me more likely to change; he was quite benevolent and sensible, plus when he died in 208 he was considered of the smartest people in Wei…. despite being only 13. (!)
Wu also would have wound up better if Sun Deng didn't die before his father, Sun Quan. All the signs said he was a good, skilled man, but he only lived to be 32. It's a bit hard to tell if Sun Liang (the actual heir) was an idiot or not, as he was 9 when he ascended to the throne and 15 when deposed on false charges. Liu Shan, Sun Xiu, and Sun He, though, were not good choices.
