Not really, unless you wanted to use them against Luca. You can just come back when your castle level is at the max level and they will join.
If you’re going for 108 stars, make sure you don’t spend too much time on Gordon. Start trading now if you can, Gold Bars and Ancient Texts work the best as far as I know.
February 22, 2007 at 1:27 am #23229Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYeah Gordon took the longest. And I kept checking those damn ninjas but I didnt realize all of those characters dont come out until you get every other normal character (I mean like Pesmerga, Vincent, Mazus, other level 4 castle characters).
Finished at 17:54 out of 20:00. Not sure if I did the Nanami thing right…is there a way to tell? Like does Huan call in Shu if I did it right? Because he did and I don’t remember that part from before…it just feels good to be able to take my time in this game now instead of sprinting from place to place.

I know there are some ending descriptions that can change depending on stuff you do in the game: Hai Yo’s changes if you complete the cook-off game, Clive’s changes if you complete his quest. Not sure if there are any others.
March 16, 2007 at 4:04 am #23231Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI must be burnt out.
So a week or so after finishing this game I find out where my real copy of Suikoden II is. My cousin didn’t have it but I lent it out to a friend around December 2005 (right when the site opened) and I guess I forgot I lent it to him. Well, I did forget obviously.
He tells me a few days ago and mentions about how rare the game is wondering why I would forget about it since it’s the most rare and valuable game I own. Hopefully I learned my lesson and now I can play Suikoden II all the time! Yes! I’m grateful, really…

You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

October 4, 2007 at 5:55 pm #23234Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI have that Gamepro. I always used to get them. Their RPG analysis is retarded. Basically, if it’s Square it gets high scores. And basically they’re all visual-whores and were upset that it was 2d.
Honestly, I thought more PSX games should have stayed 2d. Suiko 2’s graphics have more standing power than FF7’s lego characters.

also, Luca is best villain ever. discuss.
October 4, 2007 at 10:17 pm #23236NiahakModeratorWhere did you find that, out of curiosity? Someone else I know linked me to that exact same review a few hours ago.
I was not impressed.
I mean, seriously. Voice acting? What gives? The only *Square* game of the time to have Voice acting I can recall is Xenogears, which had maybe 5 minutes of horribly-dubbed crap.
Then there’s Grandia, which had such horrible voices I nearly turned the sound off.
Or Lunar & Lunar 2, which were only slightly better.
Voice acting has just recently become good in games.
Also, I like how they clearly reviewed an unfinished translation (Luka Bride? Joei?) and all of the screen-shots of the game are from the first 2 hours.
But yeah, on happier topics… Luca is still my favorite villain of all time. The sequence where you fight him is incredible. It’s really too bad the final boss wasn’t nearly as hard…

Didn’t play past the first hour, eh? What a review.
October 4, 2007 at 10:39 pm #23238ATLUSParticipantjesus fuck that review is terrible
PROTIP: play the entire game first
edit: what the fuck
look at the SOUND column they call it a TEXT-BASED GAME
did they even fucking play it at all
October 5, 2007 at 2:29 am #23239Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI like the comment about keeping "Joei" and Riou in the front line so they can use their unite…even though they don’t need to be in the front line to use it.
Hot review. I should scan the Suiko 1 review that’s pretty cool too.
