GREETINGS WARLORD
I am so glad I figured out how to get the music working for Warlords 2 on DosBox. Anyone remember these games?!
I have an older brother who was in college around the time this was out and he got me into them..very strategic and addictive. Warlords 3 was pretty cool too, a bit more sophisticated and a better story presence with the campaign modes.

ModeratorQuite frankly, I prefer watching them fight themselves than actually join in. >_>

KeymasterYea it is fun to watch the enemy go at it. Interesting dynamic how if you grow too fast they'll go after you but if you don't do too much and just focus on quests, they'll go at each other.

ModeratorI remember having so many problems with some DOS games. The fact that some of them required so many keys to be entered in from the instruction manual, which if you threw away the game would auto-shutdown. Ah the good ol' day's of fighting copyright infringement.

KeymasterQuote:The fact that some of them required so many keys to be entered in from the instruction manualWell in this day and age, you can find that documentation all over the internet.
I do agree about the problems with DOS games. Trying to run these games in XP or Windows 7 is a lost cause and you will have sound/music problems and maybe more. DosBox is pretty nice though…got Warlords 2 running perfectly on there.
However I tried getting Warlords 3 going but the music won't go. That's because back then the music tracks were so big so they wouldn't be installed on your computer but instead run off the disc when you are playing. Not sure how to bypass that although I do have the discs for Warlords 3 (but again I don't think they'll run properly in Windows without Dosbox).
It'd be funny to get an old Windows 95 / 98 computer just for old games like this…

ParticipantHave you tried running a Windows 95 or 98 virtual machine? This may help you to play that game, if you have a strong enough computer to run a virtual machine without major slowdown, of course.

KeymasterYea after some research I too realized Virtual Machine would be the best way. Already got a copy of Windows 98 just need to figure out how to run a Virtual Machine. Then I can finally get tunes on those old DOS games that run music / audio from the CD's…

ModeratorFire up dosbox, run windows 95 (or 98, assuming it works) from there.

KeymasterOh really? So Dosbox can just act like a Virtual Machine? I suppose that makes some sense…
