KeymasterOkay I get the Medieval reference then.
So you didn't play FFII NES? That has to be the worst. Really really weird growth system that encourages you to hit your own characters so that they gain max HP.
FFVIII wasn't that great, probably the worst of the PSX generation. Still like it more than X, XII and XIII though.

ModeratorFF2j isn't bad, LYS; it jsut takes some getting used to (no exp here!)
And if you know what you're doing you can have a solo character crush the final boss — and everyone else — without ever using anything but magic. XD

KeymasterQuote:And if you know what you're doingThat's the problem, it's hard to figure out exactly what the game wants you to do to keep going. I don't like a game that punishes you for beating the enemy without losing HP. It's just a weird stat growth idea, kind of like SaGa Frontier but obviously not as refined.
I do like the 'word' thing where you acquire different phrases through talking to people and then you experiment with using them. That was a good idea.

ModeratorThe game doesn't punish you for not losing HP; sure, you may have used up some MP blasting those monsters, but any cash they dropped should more than make up for it.

Participantis the cash based off how long it took you to win or is it randomized based off the opponents?
June 28, 2011 at 10:36 pm #36166DragonAtma
ModeratorIt's based on the enemies you beat (and somewhat randomized); the time doesn't matter.

Participantokay that really confused me cause one battle with three goblins was 75 and the next was 125

ModeratorWell, money drops in DW were randomized too; if the internal value for gold drops is X, they drop int((192~255)*X/256) gold. GoldGolems, for example, have an internal value of 200 and therefore drop 150~199 gold.
