Respected people were often called by their family and style names (in particular, Zhao Yun -> Zhao Zilong and Zhuge Liang -> Zhuge Kongming); why not just call him Zhou Renming?

Sure, can do that.
July 11, 2010 at 1:02 am #37584LinkParticipantI expected all of Yuan Shao's family to be able to level up. Seems like it's not the case for Yuan Tan. Maybe you can boost his strength a bit and give him minor level-ups?

Maybe you can boost his strength a bit and give him minor level-ups?Yuan Tan and Yuan Xi aren't statistically good enough to keep around so they get soldier boosts to make them temporarily worth keeping around. (think Liu Feng)
Yuan Shang will be worth keeping and does have level ups. Yuan Shang will make up for Yuan Tan and Yuan Xi's shortcomings. He gets lots of love in this one.
July 11, 2010 at 3:56 am #37586Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterGood idea with Yuan Tan and Xi. Better that they have high value in one or two areas than mediocre value throughout the whole game (with level ups). Maybe you could argue Yuan Tan as a back-up type candidate for the base characters but even then Yuan Shao's talent level is pretty high so I'm expecting to have better options than him (which again is why having a high soldier count is useful for making them good for a limited amount of time).
Getting ready to play for a bit here. Interested to see what you do with Zhang He in the mod. Would love to have him throughout the game but could see facing him in Wei too. (and to a lesser extent, Gao Lan).
Also fixed the link on the first page. It had a </br> at the end of the address so that screwed it up. Anyway, going to download it and upload it onto here.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingJuly 11, 2010 at 4:38 am #37587Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterFinished Chapter 1. Would have to agree with Link in that it was a little soft, but at the same time it's basically the big three officers and a bunch of junk. Well, Hao Meng is serviceable and Chen Lin is a fine tactician at 185 INT. But the Cui's are sad. I'd give one of them a soldier count in the 200's to spice it up. Might consider using Cui Jun then (I think he's the smarter one, the other one is trash). Incidently I fired Cui Jun and he had Scorch as an enemy officer and he toasted a few of my generals to death.
Yuan Tan looks good. I think those stats are very similar to his Original DoaE stats. Interesting setup going into Dong Zhuo's area. Only one general on my team can use Scorch really now that Yuan Shao is gone (Chen Lin). Yuan Tan is stretching it at 130 Int but could work against some real idiots (though he just failed three times straight against Hua Xiong's 60-something INT).
Tao Shang? Is he real? (sorry for my ignorance if so).

Almost done with Chapter 3, Sun Jian was a decent challenge, though I lost nobody on my team. I'm at level 12 or 13, I believe, and with Zhou Yu's meat shield we're sort of boosted high. Scorch FTW.
July 11, 2010 at 4:47 am #37589MiDKnighTModeratorThe Cui's are sorry on purpose. Cui Juye is a joke…not worth keeping once you meet Chen Lin.
Quote:Tao Shang? Is he real? (sorry for my ignorance if so).I might be wrong but I think all of the officers in this game are historical minus 3 in Jing Zhou added for fun.

I'm raising Sun Jian's AP by 10 and will lower ZYR's soldier count one notch I think.
July 11, 2010 at 4:50 am #37591Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYa Scorch allowed me to take out Lu Bu. Though he did crit-hit Guo Tu for an instant kill as he was nearing death himself. Excited to get Guo Tu, one of my favorite Yuan Shao officers (though I tend to like Yuan Shao's crew like Tian Feng, Zhang He, etc). With the level ups I expect to use him for a while (though I was kind of hoping his strength was higher but he's clearly more of a tactician type according to RotK games. I think DoaE II made him a little too kick ass).

Guo Tu will always be useful for his stats and level ups but there are others coming along who will kinda make him obsolete (eventually). You can definitely use him for the next 2-3 stages though.

I did give him some strength but ya, he has more of a strategist role (or strategist in battle). If you like Scorch you can now have Guo Tu and Chen Lin lighting people up.

July 11, 2010 at 5:13 am #37594Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterAh, Liu Bei. That part is cool. I'm curious how it would go if you tried to Scorch him to death with Guo Tu and maybe Chen Lin. I bet you could do it, with Guo Tu, if you were lucky (and probably save state cheated like mad). Anyway, he would still have the 200 AC or whatever going forward, so that would make Chang An and Nan Yang probably impossible (though I just got to Yang Zhou so I do not know what is before me, maybe he'd be taken out of those battles anyway).
At Chang An now. Wasn't too bad unless Jia Xu and Li Ru wanted to use nasty tactics. For the enemy officers in Dong Zhuo's stage I'd make their AP 50 (or 70 in the case of the weak ones like Hu Zhen, Dong Min, etc) so that they are more formidable (30 is too poor).
Zhouyu Renmng, 899 soldiers and stacked stats. Wow, he'll be nice through this section. Nice text changes in town too talking about Zhouyu and Yuan Shao's mom :).
Noticed that the messenger says 'servent' instead of servant.

However, for some odd reason even though Lu Bu had a different hex value if you recruited Liu Bei, Lu Bu would disappear from Chang An. So I had to write him out of the story at that point. But you haven't seen the last of Lu Bu of course…

Quote:Nice text changes in town too talking about Zhouyu and Yuan Shao's mom :).Yep, fits the story line of the battle of Yangcheng better.

OK fixed in my local copy.

I asked him if he talked to the town people… He forgot about that part of the story in the original. I'm sure it's possible to beat him but it would be tough. Maybe a fun challange for people if they have a save state to play with.
