Of course we have had the Lordyuanshu Dynasty Warriors 6 Walkthrough FAQ up for a while with pictures, descriptions of characters, unlock unlockable characters, DW6 Stage strategies and so on.

I have been getting a lot of emails asking for a .txt version of the Lordyuanshu DW6 guide so I went ahead and did it. It is more simple to read having it all on one page in text in front of you at once, or to print off.

Everything from the website version is compiled inside and submitted to the important places (aka Gamefaqs and our friends a Kongming.net). Lots of other emails come in asking for walkthrough FAQ submissions but I tend to ignore them

Also I have been getting feedback on my walkthrough a few days after submitting it to Gamefaqs. Just want all those users who emailed in to know that in due time I will look over any omissions or questionable strategies (I think my DW6 Fan Castle Wei Side needs a few more run throughs on hard to stop the flood and finish all three targets).

One of the most addicting aspects of the new Dynasty Warriors 6 is the targets and how you have to alter how you play the stage if you wish to complete them all.  Some of them can seem downright impossible at first, until you really know how to efficiently handle them. The list is posted below.

As far as general strategy, you’ll want to take care of the timed targets as fast as possible (like kill Guan Ping and Yue Ying in 10 minutes).  That said other things sometimes take precedence, like sometimes you must not allow certain officers to die or a certain amount of officers.  Also if you are in a castle you may have traps to protect (He Fei Castle – Wei Side).  Some stages give an obscene amount of time to complete targets – some give you next to no time especially on harder difficulties.

Added the first few stage strategies for Dynasty Warriors 6 in Yellow Turban Rebellion and Hu Lao Gate. Plenty more will be coming up soon, hopefully I can get them finished in the next few days. It’s a good way to get some use out of all these Free Mode only characters, plus it makes for a realistic experience starting off with fresh characters as opposed to using maxed out characters. Mostly in Free Mode I’ve been sticking to Wei characters, I’ve almost got to them all.  Xiahou Yuan is being used currently; he’s a bit slow, but I like his power and his nice weapon (though it seems Xiahou Dun should have that weapon). His charge attack does heavy damage to enemies in front. Yuan seems to be a clone of Huang Zhong of Shu.

9 characters are optional from the beginning while over 30 others can be recruited later, by finishing Musou modes with various kingdoms / officers and also by completing certain tasks within battle.

The Renbu system allows for continuous attacking with short breaks…allows you to pummel the enemy into submission but if you just use those square attacks they’ll block and then counterattack (obviously moreso if you chose Master difficulty for example). Thus you’ll need to combo in your charge attack to best the enemy when they block.

Wei starting characters – Sima Yi, Dian Wei, Xiahou Dun

Wu starting characters – Sunshang Xiang, Zhou Yu, Lu Xun

Shu starting characters – Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei

I’ve started up with Dian Wei…his wreckling ball is a neat new weapon though I’ve had some troubles keeping up especially when separated from my horse. He has a poor range and because of his slow walking speed is probably a good candidate to use later on when you have a reliable horse to get around with.

The Ten Eunuchs’ Rebellion

“As vermin are drawn to rotting corpses, so are power hungry men drawn to weak rulers. The powerful Eunuchs clung desperately to the quickly dissolving corpse of the Han Empire.

In the year 189 AD, two heroes strived to free the Emperor from the control of the Eunuchs. However, their actions were merely the prelude to another twisted onslaught of chaotic fate.”

Strategy: You are given the choice between two powerful rulers; Yuan Shao and Dong Zhuo. Both are running around the capital trying to manipulate the situation into their favor. The end of the Han is near and the Eunuchs’ are about to slay He Jin. The goal with both rulers is the same; let the glory be for your own army!

I’m not quite sure where the difficulty comes in this battle. The Eunuch’s are weak creatures, with only the three carriage-dwelling ones being powered up, and even they are pushovers. Probably the harder thing is understand what the hell is going on, especially once you kill about 4 in a row and the messages on the screen start getting messed up.

You’ll start next to Cheng Kuang, and after that you can go near He Jin as there are about four Eunuchs near him. Careful though; the idea, as Dong Zhuo states, is to have them kill He Jin so that Dong Zhuo can then take the Eunuchs’ heads and gain favor from the Emperor. If you rush in and SAVE He Jin, your plan will be ruined (although you can still go through the board).

After the initial wave of Eunuchs are killed, you’ll get a report that three of them are fleeing in their carriage (Cao Jie, Duan Gui and Hou Lan). Destroy the three carriages (each corner of the map except the south) and the Eunuchs’ will pop out. They are powered up so be careful, although the more important issue is making sure you get the kill. The third carriage will probably be surrounded by allies so try your best to get the kill.

Throughout all this pandemonium, Rogues will appear to attack the Emperor’s carriage; destroy them and earn favor with the Emperor, as they can end the battle if they destroy the carriage. After this the leader Zhang Rang attempts to flee with the empire. He is heading for the south exit and appears near it, but simply go over there and kill the powered-up fool (that white flash in the second image above is Dong Zhuo cutting up Zhang Rang, if you can’t tell)..

Ou Xing’s Rebellion

“Did Zhang Jiao mean to create a world of war and death? Regardless, the chaos resulting from his actions awakened the demon Ou Xing.

In the year 187 AD, three brave men stood to oppose the growing power of the wicked Ou Xing: the Tiger and his son, along with their faithful servant. Together, the crimson fury of their blades burned brightly….”

Strategy: Sun Ce and Sun Jian are in Chang Sha in an attempt to liberate the vile Ou Xing. While there, they meet a local hero, but are still understaffed for this battle. Sun Ce takes the right path, with Sun Jian taking the left and saving the villages. Huang Gai is sent to infiltrate Chang Sha Castle, but the outside of the castle must be secured before he can drop the bridges.

Sun Ce has a bit harder time in this one. You must get Huang Gai to join, so help him save the village that Zhou Chao is attacking. Later on you’ll meet a man named Guo Shi who happens to have a sub-general, and he is also powered up. He’ll taunt you about your mother, and then his attack will get devastating. Take him out and get to Yang Feng fast. Once he is ousted, hurry back to squash Zuozi Zhangba, who also may be a bit difficult although he is not powered up in any manner.

Then, take out what is left of Sha Moke or Zhang Man Cheng, and then finish of Han Xian to surround the castle. Huang Gai will drop the bridges on the east and west side, and you will be allowed in. Some bantering will occur but soon after it’ll be revealed that Ou Xing is attempting to flee! He’ll appear in a random area outside the castle and will attempt to flee. When he is confronted by a general, he will power himself up. Still though, one of your allies should be with to mop him up.

Sun Jian has a similar level but instead he heads to the villages after conquering Zhou Chao and meeting Huang Gai. Take out Li Damu, Sha Moke, and Zhang Man Chang, clearing out the western part of the map, extending all the way south. The villagers will be happy, increasing moral. Sun Ce might be in some trouble however, but take out Han Xian to secure the west, and then get Zuozi Zhangba in the north-central.

Further east is Ce, either fighting Yang Feng or Guo Shi still. Either way, finish whatever is left there and the castle should be surrounded. From there, just kill the retreating Ou Xing.

Huang Gai requires a bit more stealth; you must shoot each guard along the path before they see you. If they see you, it’ll be blocked off and you’ll have to meet with Sun Ce. Otherwise, head in the castle and kill the Gate Captains. From here, head either direction and kill all the generals left in the area, and repeat the process on the other side of the map.

If you take too long, Pei Yuan Shao and He Yi will appear will a large mass of troops in the north. This would be the only reason the battle would be hard, but try to take them out fast if you’re in the area, or just continue the assault on the castle if you’re close to opening it. At any rate, Wu leaves with a powerful new ally.
