A Yuan Shu DoaE Mod is near release. I won’t say much for now because it’s not completed but here is a sample.
Download DoaE Destiny of an Emperor Yuan Shu Mod.
A new character (for Yang Jin), Yue Jiou.
Liu Bei’s forces take over Yuan Shu’s area by the way. Yuan Shu takes over for Liu Feng (so he can stay in the game the entire time) and Yuan Yin / Lu Fan take over for Guan Yu / Zhang Fei.
Thanks again to Niahak for making this all possible with his DoaEditor (new beta release!)

October 31, 2007 at 5:52 pm #28227Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterThis is my favorite battle so far. Instead of Yuan Tan, Yuan Xi and Tian Feng, we get…Gongsun Qian.
Zhao Yun is cracked out in this version, using Fu Bing to go along with the 255 STR.

It is neat to see the main sprites in odd colors.
That Zhao Yun battle looks really nasty. What happens afterward? You can recruit Zhao Yun? Does that mean he doesn’t serve in Shu?
Oh, and a suggestion… rather than high soldier values rely on defense and powerful tactics. If the game progresses in that direction (looks almost like the soldier values in my own game) the player is going to have tactics like Ji Mian and Da Re while going through Shu.

Lots of fun challenges for the Yuan Shu army. You can find the officer replacements below but here are a list of the allies and enemies.
Liu Bei – Yuan Feng
Zhang Fei – Yuan Yin
Guan Yu – Lu Fan
Song Yong – Chen Ji
Song Ren – Chen Lan
Chen Deng – Sun Ce
Han Zhong – Han Xian
Liu Feng – Yuan Shu
Yang Jin – Yue Jiu
Guan Ping – Li Feng
Huo Hu – Lei Bo
Wang Gui – Han Xin
Zhou Chao – Liang Ji
Zhou Cang – Liang Gang
Zhao Yun – Ji Ling
Wei Yan – Zhang Xun
Dan Fu / Xu Zhe – Liu Ye
Zhuge Liang – Huo Hu
Guan Xing – Lu Fan +
Zhang Bao – Yuan Yin +
All of the above have level up’s save for Yuan Feng, Sun Ce and Liu Ye. Lu Fan + and Yuan Yin + are slightly buffed clones of their previous version (just re-added so that they join again for Wu).
Enemies (out / in)
Han Zhong – Han Xian
Lei Bo – Zhang Bao
Chen Ji – Guan Xing
Ji Ling – Liao Hua
Zhang Xun – Wang Fu
Han Xian – Liu Feng
Li Feng – Guan Ping
Liang Ji – Liu Chan
Chen Lan – Jiang Wan
Liang Gang – Zhou Cang
Yuan Shu – Liu Bei
Yuan Yin – Zhang Fei

There’s a spot on the main site for the Yuan Shu mod of course.

November 1, 2007 at 9:35 am #28231Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYup. That’s one of the best parts.
Because you can meet Ji Ling earlier at the bar and he’ll say that he has an obligation to Gongsun Qian. So it makes sense that after you recruit Ji Ling that you can fight Gongsun Qian right after at that castle. Getting retribution for all the nasty things they did to Ji Ling’s sister.

November 2, 2007 at 2:34 am #28234Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI suggest FCE-Ultra. Any Emulator should be fine….just open the .rar file with winrar or winzip (or the windows unzipping program) so that you can unzip the files and then just open the yuanshumod.nes file with your emulator.
As for other mods, I think Niahak has started a Wei mod. Surely someone will pick up a Wu mod sometime down the line…
Not I! I may make another mod but it’d be a Yuan Shao one likely.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingNovember 2, 2007 at 2:51 am #28235FalloutParticipanta yuan shao mod would be sweet! i always wished they had done one with dynasty tactics. i suppose tian feng would be the zhuge liang? you might hafto resort to more legendary figures like zuo ci, the wizard who insulted cao cao.
November 2, 2007 at 3:00 am #28236NiahakModeratorThe Wei mod was mostly a test of DoaEd. I may continue it later on but I haven’t done much of anything in about a week.

I will probably create a second mod when DoaE 2.0 is finished, and it will be a Wei mod. So at least that’s something people will be able to look forward to. :)
After that, and after creating the requested ‘correct’ version of Destiny of an Emperor, this whole project will be finished and I’ll move on to something else. I’ll be able to have one heck of a fun DoaE game whenever I feel like it, I think I’ll be able to enjoy some fun mods as a result of all this research and effort, and I’ll be able to continue tweaking DoaE 2.0, forever in search of the ‘perfect’ DoaE.
