Rise of Ieyasuclass=”bbcode_url”>Rise of Ieyasu
May 11, 2012 at 2:59 am #42693Zhuge LiangParticipantHey wait till I've cleared Ieyasu, it is nearly done.
DoaE gave birth to Huo Hu.
May 11, 2012 at 6:01 pm #42694cabalpapaParticipantMaybe this mod will actually see some representation of Liu Yong, Wang Lang, Yan Baihu, the Shanyu Tribe, and Shi Xie. The part where Lu Meng ambushes Guan Yu would be an extremely fun area to highlight. Perhaps even Zhuge Dan (and how Wu influenced that rebellion) could be utilized. The amount of storylines are endless…
May 12, 2012 at 6:15 am #42695shifter420Participantis there anyway to apply the code in lu bu 2.0 with the tactics and make 8 or is 6 all u can work with?
May 12, 2012 at 12:13 pm #42696sonic.penguinModeratorAdding 8 would require a HUGE amount of rebalancing (again) and I don't really want to do that >.> Plus, the coding of Rise of Lu Bu is somehow slightly different than the current one and it doesnt like some of the newer stuff, considering it was on the frontier of the new code. So I guess the answer is: YES, it is possible, but I wont likely be adding it. You can always try adding it yourself and see if it works :) It does however, make use of the Unique tactic code which should still provide you with a HUGE range of tactics to use.
May 13, 2012 at 12:33 am #42697sonic.penguinModeratorOkay, question, is the area of Jingzhou including ChangSha, guiyang, etc and south of there still Jingzhou?
This mod is already turning out better than I expected… I've swapped around chapters and really am liking the entire new dynamics at the beginning of the game.
Anyways, Chapter 1 is about complete :) Now moving on to Chapter 2
May 13, 2012 at 1:22 am #42698DragonAtmaModeratorYup.
Koei sometimes uses the names Jingbei (North Jing) for the parts north of the Yangtze and Jingnan (South Jing) for the province because it's so huge, but that's not canonical.
Similarly, they sometimes split Yi into two or three provinces (Hanzhong and/or the tribal south being promoted), but again, that's not canonical.
The extreme south, though (even further south than Ling Ling), is Jiaozhi, not Jingzhou. It roughly corresponds to the western half of Sun Quan's vanilla DoaE lands, although the cities there belong at least 500 miles northeast of where DoaE has them. Hui Ji, for example, is modern Suzhou, about fifty miles west of shanghai… whereas DoaE has it a good 800 miles or so away, near where Hong Kong is!
May 13, 2012 at 4:09 am #42699sonic.penguinModeratorThanks for the info Atma. I remember Shi Xie from ROTK 6 who never really grew very large simply because the foreign tribes always invaded his lands every time he would take over one. :wasted:
Yeah, they are quite a bit off, but rearranging the whole map for that? Pfff. Anyways, which would you prefer to see as a Gullwing location that transports you south of the canal clogging castle (forget the name)
May 13, 2012 at 6:23 am #42700cabalpapaParticipantDo you really need that canal to be clogged? Changing the map around would seem to remove the necessity of that event. Does removal of that event create bugs?
May 13, 2012 at 1:19 pm #42701sonic.penguinModeratornope, its unnecessary. But the reason I am teleporting south of it is b/c those cells are uneditable in DOAEditor which leaves that cell Chapter 7 enemies, thus, I have to totally skip the castle/canal event atm. Maybe Niahak can make that cell chapter editable? The cells around the Wu cave are also uneditable…
May 15, 2012 at 2:20 am #42702sonic.penguinModeratorBeen charting all the addresses for town sprites, am hoping to make some tweaks with sprites and different recruiting locations (not so many in the field recruitments)
May 15, 2012 at 2:48 am #42703NiahakModeratorDefine "cell" here? I can probably make them editable, just need to know where/how to find 'em.
I assume you mean a map region?
May 15, 2012 at 11:58 am #42704sonic.penguinModeratorQuote:Define "cell" here? I can probably make them editable, just need to know where/how to find 'em.I assume you mean a map region?
Yep, the cell where the mountain exploding guy is/canal. Also the Wu cave map region is uneditable. Now I'm fine with not changing the map, but would editing the chapter on that cell be an issue? I could even do it in the hex (probably) if I wasn't so lazy :P
We;ve added stuff also to the romhacking guide as there is info on how to change the bandits/pirates/rebels portraits and stuff. Don't know if that will help in allowing them to be editable in DOAEditor. I do know that they use multiple values for stats based on what chapter youre in.
May 15, 2012 at 1:19 pm #42705MiDKnighTModeratorOne cool hack for this mod might be to give the Wu guys a "terrain" advantage when fighting near water (ie…where pirates would show up). The Wu guys were known for their naval skills. So for example if fighting near water the Wu guys might have an automatic vigor/Qi Shou + castle/cheng nei applied or if we got crazy with it maybe a mini-guard/Ji Rou or mini-zeal/bei ji. That would decrease the difficulty for the first chapter(s) in the Wu area and make it more difficult when they are away from water.
May 15, 2012 at 2:35 pm #42706sonic.penguinModeratorNow you're getting into DOAE2 kind of programming, heh. Well yeah, they were exceptional on water, yet they are famous for using Fire (ChiBi?) so perhaps souped up fire tactics would be a good route, granted, water tactics never really got utilized because its so limiting… Anyways, Chapter 1 is Dong Zhuo, Chapter 2 returns your party south. I wont divulge too much, as I don't want to spoil it :P
