First played Destiny of an Emperor back in 1989 or 1990. My brother-in-law got the game. At the time I would occasionally spend a weekend at my sister and brother-in-law's house. He played it first while I watched. I was fascinated with the history. Towards the end of the weekend when he relinquished the Nintendo I started my own quest. I only finished a couple of chapters before it was time to go home. The whole next week at school I imagined marching to the next castle and trying to conquer it. I was hooked! My next visit I finally beat the game and like everyone else, had all kinds of trouble with the dreaded "Si Ma Yi". I ended up getting the game myself and beating it several more times until... I discovered this forum back in 2006 where I tested out James' max tactic points theory and completed it along with some DoaE challanges made at the time. 2-3 years later I came back and discovered that people were modding DoaE! I tried the Cao Cao mod which was brutally hard but was amazed that there was a whole new DoaE story to feed my addiction. After playing with DoaEditor a bit I decided to try to make my own mod which became Yuan Shao's revenge (I only picked Yuan Shao because nobody had done it yet). As I worked on this mod I became more and more interested in doing things that weren't possible in DoaEditor at the time. So I took on the very difficult task of learning 6502 assembly. With the help of Meteorstrike's notes and 6502 references online I went from small assembly changes to big ones. Eventually I had made so many major changes that I decided we needed a one stop shop to document it all and that became the ROM hacking guide. Since Meteorstrike wasn't around anymore I took it upon myself (with the help of ludmeister) to come up with new and interesting DoaE enhancements to add more options to an already great game. Over time my focus went less from working on my own mod, to putting information out there that would help with everybody's mods. Eventually I got my hands dirty with DoaEditor as well after learning some C# and here we are today...
