ModeratorNow, now — his Zhuge Liang equivalent (Lu Xun) isn't there yet…

Moderatoryeah, gotta find a time to squeeze him in too >.>
I did find a way to squeeze a bunch of the smart guys in though, granted, only the two zhangs will be usable at their time of recruitment and Lu Su will be an optional recruit if you want to do the footwork, and even the 2nd zhang you'll have to search for.
Lu Su will have a progressive soldier build while the two Z's and their awesome beardedness will be fixed. Lu Su will become more useful later. Now to make a reason to use them…

ParticipantAnd Lu Meng? lol… Xu Sheng, Zhu Huan, Jiang Qin, Gan Ning… Zhuge Jin, Zhuge Dan (after his rebellion with Wei), Zhuge Luo, Bu Xi, Ding Feng, Ling Cao and Tong, Zhou Tai, Yu Su (formerly with Wang Lang, and quite the renowned healer)… gosh, how did Wu lose this war anyway?

Participanthey sonic just a suggestion, i just finished up lu bu 2.0, and i hope u add some recruiting later on in this mod unlike that one, i think it makes a game so much better when u can keep recruiting new blood all the way through :)

ModeratorThere should be a bunch of generals available after chapter 7. Granted, I know there is not a lot towards the middle. What did you think of the 2.0 improvements overall?
Any suggestions as to who or where on this mod? Wu seemed heavily frontloaded, but seemed to lack people towards the end.

Participantoverall i think it was a big improvement over the original, that was my only gripe about it at all ;), and i didnt have anyone specifically in mind, but seeing as it's wu, im sure you can utilize many useful guys from wu :D

ModeratorLater additions, hmm?
Go with prominent children, such as Zhuge Ke and Sun Deng.
EDIT: Or make the timeline earlier:
184 Sun Jian vs turbans
189 Sun Jian (under Yuan Shu) vs Dong Zhuo
191 Sun Jian/Ce (under Yuan Shu) vs Liu Biao
195 Sun Ce (under Yuan Shu) vs Liu Yao
197 Sun Ce vs Yuan Shu
198 Sun Ce vs Liu Biao
199 Sun Ce vs Cao Cao
201 Sun Ce vs Yuan Shao
Why yes, I realize that chapter 6 was inconclusive IRL, so 7 and 8 are where it deviates form history.
EDIT 2: Minor timeline fix

ModeratorCurrently, this is the format:
Chapter 1 – Dong Zhuo
Chapter 2 – Conquest of Southlands
Chapter 3 – Conquest of Wu
Chapter 4 – Conquest of Shan Yue: know any good names other than Fei Zhan, Sheng Shang, Pan Lin, and Xuo Tou
Chapter 5 – Possibly Red Cliffs… might combine this w/ chapter 4 though….
Chapter 6 –
Chapter 7 –
Chapter 8 –
I know I'm trying to fit the whole history instead of just fabricating w/ Sun Jian leading the whole time. Chapter 8 vs. Yuan Shao? heh heh
May 21, 2012 at 3:30 pm #42730DragonAtma
ModeratorThe problem is that Southlands, Wu, and Shan Yue are basically the same area.
Also remember that Sun Quan and Liu Biao fought on-and-off for eight years between the conquest of Liu Yao and Red Cliffs. After all, Sun Jian died in the fight between Yuan Shu and Liu Biao…

ModeratorYou can try and code that if you want bouncing all over the map but still keeping players from trudging through the whole map :smoke:
The fight vs. Shan Yue comes during the reign of Sun Quan.
Fighting vs. Liu Biao will kind of be in the background, simply because I have to use that same area for the invasion of Cao Cao later on. I might throw some Liu Biao fights inbetween 2-4 once Niahak gets the opener/closer update functioning, this way it isn't so tedious to edit those.
The reason I added Shan Yue as its own is b/c I'm trying to give a reason to use different officers other than the 'beefiest' officers from beginning to end.
May 21, 2012 at 3:57 pm #42732DragonAtma
ModeratorOnce again, if you want people to swap officers around, don't give them soldier growths. Then, officers will only be useful for a chapter or two, at which point you'll want to replace them with the new guys.
Asd for the Shanyue, keep in mind that (with one exception) Wu fought them multiple tiems, with little success; they only made progress through noncombat means, first with Ling Tong impressing them and then through Zhuge Ke moving Wu's newly-harvested grain away form the border before the remaining shanyue could pillage it.
The exception? That would be Yan Baihu, who supported Liu Yao and held a huge amount of influence over the shanyue.
May 21, 2012 at 5:14 pm #42733sonic.penguin
ModeratorYeah, but good ol' Baihoo gets toasted in Chapter 2/3 :P
The battle w/ Shan Yue is right after players will get Ling Tong, but I'm not sure if I'm going to give him soldier growth or not since @ that time players will have just acquired He Qi, who also was influential in settling Shan Yue, but also Zhang Zhao, Zhang Hong, Lu Su, and Taishi Ci.
Here is the handicap on players I am leaving, Huang Gai, Cheng Pu + 1 other will be non-removable, thus a player will really have to choose among a bunch of good generals who they want, at least until after Cheng and Huang get dumped later on.

ModeratorAny ideas on how to simulate the Battle of Red Cliffs? Boats only came around on DOAE2 so gotta think of a way to do this. Atma, you're the master of GFX, lets hear something!
Also, since I still haven't found out how to do it, any ideas on how to change the price of recruiting officers?
ALSO, maybe we can get Ludmeister in on this one, what about changing the 'Castle' tactic to something more… useful? My idea was an auto-critical hit like a power pill. What do ya think?
May 22, 2012 at 5:03 pm #42735DragonAtma
ModeratorSimulating the battle of red cliffs, hmm? The best would be to insert a new tileset after the Capcom logo (from 139F0 to 13FDF) and use that.
Then you can change a cave map (or something) to that tileset. Talking to your Liu Bei equivalent at the proper time would teleport the player to that area, battles would be handled the way Ma Yuanyi was handled in vanilla DoaE (but with him blocking the apth and vanishing after you beat him), and beating the boss there would teleport them back to the castle, ready to take northern Jing.

ParticipantWhat I always thought a fair effect of Castle would be is a Ji Rou that automatically only lasts til the end of that round/turn… makes it interesting and useful, especially with agility based atatcks counteracting when you'd want to use it (more attacks, or sooner defense?).
