ParticipantHow many SP do you have? Ba Gua requires 200 SP in the Wei mod, instead of 48 in the regular DOAE2 and the Wu mod.
I formed Ba Gua without any problems in the final secret boss battle.
Samuel
ParticipantAwesome! I beat the third and the fourth groups of secret bosses. Instead of Ba Gua, I form the Bai Ma array prior to the battles. Then, I cast Ji Mian. I had to be lucky that Ji Mian succeeded multiple times.
I take advantage of my generals powerful attacks (kill 7000 to 10000 soldiers per strike) and kill the enemies one by one. However, we must first conquer Wei by finishing the five consecutive battles in Luo Yang. The map became a big mess after I beat Li Shi Min’s group. I tried Suo Di and the world map turned into a total chaos. I could not continue the game.
This mod is difficult and insane. It is a fairy tale more than a historical story. The good news is that we can skip them. We fight them only if we want new challenges after surviving the onslaught of Wei troops in Luo Yang.
Please feel free to view my screen shot albums. I uploaded my victories there.
Samuel
ParticipantYes, the background is the stone maze between Wu Zhang and Chang An.
Samuel
ParticipantNo, Li Yuan Ba is not in there.
Li Jing’s group includes Li Ji, Li Zhen Wu, Li Ke Yong, and Li Cun Xu.
Li Shi Min’s group features Wei Chi Jing De, Xue Ren Gui, Fang Xuan Ling, and Du Ru Hui.

You will find the secret bosses’ profiles.

ParticipantI revisit this game and I notice that I have been missing three more secret bosses. Earlier in this thread, I discussed the first group led by Zhao Kang Yin. In fact, a second group emerges after Wu troops defeat Zhao Kang Yin. Zhu Yuan Zhang leads this second group at the entrance of the palace of the regular game’s Nan.
When Wu troops defeat them, they will find the third and the fourth group of secret bosses. The last two groups are located at the deepest spot of Emperor Jing’s tomb (where the Blood Seal is found in the original game). Li Jing leads the third group while Li Shi Min leads the fourth. I beat Li Jing’s group but have no chance on Li Shi Min. Wu troops must fight them without any opporrtunity to restore soldiers.
These secret bosses are insane. I shall update my guide and send the details later.

ParticipantI post screen shots of hidden items’ specific locations in my screen shot album.

The album contains my proofs of defeating secret bosses for both mods.

ParticipantActually, I do believe there are 2 versions of the mod. I remember seeing 2 versions of it when I downloaded it. Can you upload your version? I would much rather have Dian Wei use spears than axe. It’s just more fitting you know.
Indeed! Xiahou Yuan also uses bows in the mod. He’s actually more dangerous than Xiahou Dun due to his weapon. Unless the mod you have has a Xiahou Yuan using a different weapon.
In my Wei mod, Xiahou Yuan uses spears. As I said, I download the files from the links provided by lordyuanshu.com. Terranigma, you can download lordyuanshu’s files and try it.

ParticipantPang De equips Sabers, not Axe. Dian Wei and Xu Huang uses axe. I’m talking about the Wei mod myself. I don’t use axe guys in the regular DOE.
I start to wonder whether there are more than one version for the Wei mod. I downloaded the mod from the site provided by lordyuanshu.com. Dian Wei equips spears while Pang De equips axes. Meanwhile, people keep saying that Dian Wei uses axes and Pang De uses sabres.
I disagree with Zhang Lu about Bows being trash, since Yuyu Bow is actually stronger than a Double Axe by 12 points or something like that.
Bows are not trash. If a potent general equips a bow, the double hit can inflict severe damage (e.g. Huang Zhong in the regular DOAE, possibly Zhang He and Guo Huai in the Wei mod).

ParticipantIn the regular DOAE2, three characters equip axes. They are Wei Yan, Zhou Cang, and Liao Hua. Wei Yan is the only general worth a little consideration for the final battles (strength: 240).
Xu Huang and Pang De equip the ax in the Wei mod but only Xu Huang is worth using. In the Wu mod, three generals equip axes (Xu Sheng, Ding Feng, Zhou Tai). Only Zhou Tai may worth a slight consideration.

ParticipantI think that you are comparing the Thunder Axe with the Double Axe. The Tiger Axe is only worth 150 attack points.
I never use generals that equip axes because their intelligence are way too low. You may have a point, Terranigma Freak.
Even with a gauntlet, I would not prefer all double hit weapons. A barrage sword, for example, are only worth 90 points. It is too weak for the Luo Yang battles.

ParticipantThanks for the compliment. Yes, I am Asian. I was born and raised in Hong Kong. Chinese is my native language. I can read all the DOAE2 officers’ names so I can identify the better known ones.
I studied Chinese History in Hong Kong from grades 7 to 9 (required course). This is how I know these Song Dynasty people.
By the way, I encountered Ye Lu Chu Cai in a battle. He is another secret general in the Wu mod. In history, he was a chancellor under Genghis Khan.
Samuel
ParticipantThanks, Zhang Lu. I missed this battle because I exited the cave sequence by using Suo Di. Once we pick up the Huo Shen helmet from the chest where we are supposed to get the Blood Seal, a man stands at the entrance of the third cave. If you use Suo Di to get out, go back in. We find a man standing beside a woman at the entrance of the third cave. The man is not present when we first enter. Sun Quan talks to him and this battle starts.
The first man is Zhao Kang Yin (20456), followed by Zhao Pu (19189), Cao Bin (18045), Di Qing (16997), and Yue Fei (15805). Zhao Kang Yin established the Song Dynasty. Zhao Pu was one of his minsters. Cao Bin and Di Qing were famous generals in early Song. Another post has discussed Yue Fei so I won’t go further.
I breezed through this battle because my level is at 99. Cast a Ba Gua and kill their soldiers little by little. I will post my screen shots on my DOAE2 screen shot album.
I am wrong saying that Wu mod does not have any secret boss. Can someone update this part into my guide?
Samuel
ParticipantYou can beat them without cheating. We must raise our levels to maximum (ie. 99). In these two battles, we have to use an array. I want you to find out which array is the right one for these two battles. I talked about it extensively in my guide.
We should send highly intelligent generals to these two battles. This strategy minimizes enemy’s success in tactics. Do not put a Xu Zhu or Dian Wei. Enemies easily kill them with An Sha.
Samuel
ParticipantActually, Taishi Ci is wrong. I did not read his post critically. Once you receive the Zheng’s Letter, you "give" it to someone else. If Liu Bei picks up the letter, he gives it to Chen Deng. But Liu Bei’s copy remains there. Chen Deng has an extra copy.
I tried to do this in the Wu mod but it does not work. I wonder Wu mod prevents us from duplicating the letter.
Samuel
ParticipantThanks Yang Song, but I do not want to open a new account on a new web photo site.
Let me put a link to my screen shot album, including my victory against the two secret bosses:
