What!? Zhuge Liang controls even the heavens?
January 4, 2008 at 8:43 am #31957UltraCraig64ParticipantI’m on my second time through DOAE’s 1 and 2, and for 2 I’m in the process of trying to get the ultimate weapons. I have my game saved right before the ambush at Shangfang Valley after killing Cao Cao, since I read that you can supposedly get the Li Guang bow there. For me this is paramount, as I am a huge Huang Zhong fan in DOAE 2 (bows are Godly). I have currently fought that battle 15 times and have yet to receive anything, let alone the elusive Li Guang bow. It looks like no one else has posted a topic asking about getting the best weapons, and I just can’t believe it, I would have thought this to be a hot topic of discussion. Can anyone shed light on getting the Li Guang bow or Zeng Zong saber for me? As for the Qi Gang sword, I really hope I don’t have to fight the Cao Pi battle dozens of times to get it. With level 50 characters and all of them having 255 intelligence due to duplication of the treatise, I don’t actually need any help finishing the game. Matter of fact, I even plan to get to level 99 this time (first game I stopped at 67). However, I am obsessive about doing EVERYTHING in the RPG’s I play, and maxing out all the stats is just the bee’s knees haha. Well, besides agility anyway. I decided to take max intelligence instead of boosts in the far less useful stat of agility. People have hacked this game, so didn’t they perhaps use their hacking programs to find the exact location of items? If anything, someone please tell me how to cheat the game to get any weapon I want (I have no background in hacking or hex editing and just want the easiest way). Hopefully this info helps the one or two other people out there who are as crazy with this stuff as I am.

Of course it was frustrating not being able to find it; there was a link to a webpage of someone who had pictures of it in their inventory but no explanation as to how to get it. The Li Guang indeed is dropped from the Jia Xu ambush and I found the QiangGang from the the Wuzhangyuan Cao Pi battle or whatever. Even then both of them are extremely rare.
As far as hacking, yea it was hacked and JPN roms were made (Wei / Wu mods). The hacking done around here has generally been for DoaE 1 and I’m not sure there would be a way to hack into the game to see where any given item is / drops from. :(

That’s reassuring to know the bow is there, I just wonder what the odds are of finding one of those and the Qing Gang. Hopefully it’s not much more than like 1 in 50, or I might just be spending the rest of Winter Break hunting down those mothers. I’ll post here when I get them and let you guys know how many times it took for each, in case anyone was curious. It’s all because I DARE 2 CARE.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingJanuary 4, 2008 at 1:47 pm #31961FalloutParticipanti wonder if you save right before you kill jia xu and cao pi if the treasure outcome will change each time. that might be the key to success. i got the li guang bow a couple of times by reloading the battle from the beginning, but not at the end…
January 4, 2008 at 8:17 pm #31962UltraCraig64ParticipantI am happy to say that loading a save state from right before finishing the battle does indeed work. I have a save state where all I have left is one outlaw army, and after the 120 tries in a row I have done so far (I really counted each try), I have received 6 Power Pills and a Fortune Shield (yes, a FORTUNE SHIELD!!). I received the Fortune Shield on only my 23rd try, so that was cool. I wonder how many more times I’ll have to try before I get the Li Guang Bow, but on the plus side it’s kind of fun seeing what random drops I can get. On a smaller note, I got a Nu Long sword the first time fighting the one-on-one battle with Zhang Ren, then a silver nugget from the same battle on the third try. Then, the really cool thing was getting a Heaven sword from the Hao Zhao port battle, since you normally don’t get it till after the Cao Cao battle at Luo Yang in a chest. Anyway, like I said before, saving mid battle still nets you different drops, and thank God for that.

January 4, 2008 at 9:49 pm #31963UltraCraig64ParticipantOk, maybe I did a bogey on the "save right before the battle ends" thing. After 200 tries (yes, I have counted painstakingly), all I have to show for it is 10 Power Pills and only 1 Fortune Shield. That’s it. However, it just occurred to me that since I created my savestate where I only had an Outlaw Army left, maybe I was only getting the items dropped by that solitary Outlaw Army. I am going to now try this with having both bow users alive. I have a strong feeling that things will turn out a lot better for me after doing this. Well, back to the grind.

January 4, 2008 at 11:40 pm #31964FalloutParticipantthat’s nice! i would recommend trying it against real enemies that are guarding gates and castles. these are where we have found the big bow and sword from…
thanks for doing the footwork!! that is awesome! :D
January 5, 2008 at 1:00 am #31965thechieftainParticipanthey, fortune shield is pretty good :P
January 5, 2008 at 1:10 am #31966FalloutParticipanti bet the two fights with zhang liao at the end of the game yield the zeng zong…
if i weren’t at work, i’d try it…
January 5, 2008 at 2:16 am #31967thechieftainParticipantIt would make pretty logical sense.
January 5, 2008 at 2:43 am #31968Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea I think we went over potential Zeng Zhong spots and Chang An / Zhang Liao’s spot was the likely area. Also remember some items can be found on random spots of the land so there’s always that fun option

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingJanuary 5, 2008 at 3:20 am #31969UltraCraig64ParticipantI think the Zhang Liao fight makes sense since it’s the end of the game and he is one of the VERY few enemy generals to wield a saber. Also, i seems as if enemies that wield a certain weapon type will only drop that weapon type. However, I still can’t get that Li Guang bow and I’m starting to lose my sanity here, as well as the hope of getting it. At first I save stated at the point where all I had left was an Outlaw Army in that battle, so I guess it made sense that after 200 attempts I couldn’t even get a bow. It seems that the save state generates item drops based on what generals are left in the battle, and since no bow wielders were left alive, their random drops must not have been included. That is why I rectified this by then creating a save state with only the two bow wielding generals left behind. I did indeed receive a few bows, but so far after 350 tries (it was really hard to keep track but it should be accurate), they have only been Steel Bows. Here is a rundown of my item drops, in case anyone was curious:
did 350 turns
got 1 Dragon Armor on turn 13
got 1 Power Pill on turn 112
got 1 Steel Bow on turn 128
got 1 Dragon Armor on turn 140
got 1 Power Pill on turn 142
got 1 Steel Bow on turn 185
got 1 Dragon Armor on turn 188
got 1 Steel Bow on turn 210
got 1 Steel Bow on turn 228
got 1 Dragon Armor on turn 273
Well, it looks like you can only get 1 item at any given time, and I haven’t received any items since my 273rd turn, so I should be due for another item drop soon since so far the biggest item drought by far was from turns 14 to 111, 97 fruitless battles. I will keep going until I get it and can report my findings, but out of curiosity, about how many tries did it take others to find this most elusive Li Guang Bow drop?

January 5, 2008 at 3:42 am #31970FalloutParticipantsigh…when i tried, it only took me two turns. and i don’t use huang zhong, so it wasn’t used. it was the jia xu fight, though, i know that for a fact…
sorry, i know that doesn’t help…
