ParticipantYeah I named him incon short for "incontinent" cuz hes an old bastid. But yeah maxing out just makes the final battle so much easier.

KeymasterHow did you fight for that long? Leveling up takes FOREVER at the end of that game.

ParticipantIt goes up a lot quicker if you just keep walking around the lower levels(where the evil masks, red dragons, behemoths, etc. lurk.)
Theres a space on I believe the level you fight Ogopogo for Edge’s last sword…its about a 3 x 3 area. You encounter like 3-4 red dragons at a time and shit.

KeymasterWow ok. I usually fight by the save point in the cavern area (where you fight that Plague enemy) but the Ryu’s and the like do not give much EXP so…that explains it I guess.

ParticipantYeah they Ryu’s give a handsome amount of gold, but the exp is lacking until you get closer to the core. You can also get Glass helmets, Dragon whips, Dragoon Spears & Crystal rings from constantly fighting these enemies. So you’re kind of killing two birds with one stone…leveling up and obtaining basically two of the best items in the game(Glass Helmet and Crystal Ring). You gotta have patience for those though lol

I remember playing on the old SNES… once you built up a certain amount of strength, you could equip Kain with the Drain Lance and Cecil with the Drain Sword (not sure if those names are exact), head into the Crystal Temple, and find a corner which looked something like this:

|_You then use one of the SNES cartridge shields (those clear ones you slipped on the bottom of the cartridge) and clipped it on your controller over the bottom and left arrows on the direction pad. You clipped a second memory card shield over the confirm button (A?)

ParticipantXian basically worded a lot of things I would’ve said. I think this Final Fantasy was really slept on though. People seem to appreciate 3 and on more.

Slept on? This is one of the most popular Final Fantasies of all time.
Veteran role-players tend to think of either it, or FFVI, as the best.

ParticipantNo I definitely concur. I basically meant a lot of people that I’ve encountered personally usually pick another over this one. But yeah 2 & 3(VI) are definitely top 2.

ModeratorI should gte unlazy and finish my Solo Cecil game…
And when I beat the main game, my level was ~65.

ModeratorTake that, Valvalis!
Thanks to looting Eblan castle, a wild encounter I ran into dropped a Medusa Sword! ^_^ Now Cecil’s damage is 101 instead of 89. That boostw as enough to finally slay her. Still, fighting her with only one character is NOT fun.

ParticipantOne character? I take it you let the other characters die intentionally?…
August 6, 2008 at 12:09 pm #35535DragonAtma
ModeratorNot only do I let them die itnentionally, bnut I refuse to do anything except attack them (with weapon or spell) until only Cecil remains! Only exception is that I’ll heal cecil if he gets hit by oWeak or something…
Unfortunately, Atma needs to do a whole bunch of levelling, as he gets the joy of facing TrapDoors with only one character…
