ParticipantI notice that only about half the members who join the site are posting…are the others just here for the ROMs?

KeymasterHaha, I think half is generous at this point. Yeah, I assume they just signed up for the roms, that’s really the only member-exclusive thing we have so far, and more specifically Destiny of an Emperor 3. The first two are pretty easy to find, the other two not so much. At some point we’ll probably start getting rid of some of the names, especially those that never signed in.

ParticipantI can’t imagine why anyone who can’t speak Japanese would want the SNES DOAE3 ROM, the language barrier is too large to ignore and it just seems like a simplified ROTK.
The Genesis ROM, though, is a real ROTK RPG and pretty intuative for anyone who’s ever played the SNES Final Fantasy’s. Hopefully once I finish the guide it’ll become more popular.

Agreed, I think there is definitely more potential for the Genesis one because of all the gameplay similarities between that and other 16-bit RPGs. The SNES one, I could barely figure out how to start up a game.
I know for a fact that there is next to no information on any DoaE 3 on the internet (at least in English). Hell, there’s basically nothing for DoaE 2. So I’m curious, what abilities do they give Zhuge and Huang (limit breaks, or whatever).

ParticipantHuang Zhong Limits (He joins with 2):
1) He does a chant and a fire dragon shoots out and hits a single foe.
2) He does a chant and several stones rise out of the ground and slam a single foe.
Zhuge Liang Limit:
1) He swings his sword and a power arc flow out and hits a single foe.

ParticipantI’ll post, when I’m in my "ZOMG. Romance of the Three Kingdoms" phase
Lately I have been too busy playing silly games like Contra III, Double Dragon II, Shingen the Ruler, and Cabal, laughs.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

KeymasterContra III for SNES? Double Dragon II for NES? Am I correct here? Those are great games if that’s what you’re speaking of.

KeymasterLordyuanshu and myself have spent many an early morning playing some of those games you mentioned. They are sheer quality as any true gamer knows :smoke:

ParticipantThey’re damned good but, I spend most of my gaming time on the ROMS of games I used to have as a kid. I never had Contra as a kid but it’s damned amazing, kinda makes me sad that the only co-op shooting games I had were Ikari Warriors and Cabal.

ParticipantThats what I play at work and class: old ROMs of games I had as a kid.
Most played:
Earthbound
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy VI
Secret of Evermore
prolly some others I’m forgetting as well. They’re still among the most fun games to play, plus you get the nostalgia value as well.

KeymasterThe games Aldris just listed are the best RPGs I have ever played. I would like to see Nintendo bring out another system that has such a wide array of great RPGs like the SNES had. The Revolution looks promising with its abilities to play any game from NES to GameCube. What would be really great is if Nintendo would make many updated versions of great games with extra areas, features, etc. Not necessarily completely remaking a game and simply updating the graphics, but providing a nice new game, wich would hearken back to the older games, a la Suikoden V. I think if Nintendo could release a bunch of these on one system, they would be right back in the market as top competitors (of course you can never count Nintendo out as an excellent company, but in my opinion they have been slacking since the SNES). :ninja:
