So I’m Tao Qian in RTK III 189 AD. Of course he dies after like 5 years, and it’s get me to thinking. Do you guys usually pick the best character in terms of Charm (Zhang Liao for me) to succeed the throne, or someone who was significant to the previous rule (Sun Qian, Mi Zhu, Chen Deng, etc).
I chose Mi Zhu since Sun Qian (and Xia Pi) was captured by someone else. I usually try to keep it that way because otherwise all my games will turn into Guan Yu or Zhang Liao or someone sweet being the ruler and then it’s not really fun.

Otherwise, Sun Qian or one of the Chens would probably be best.
July 16, 2006 at 5:47 pm #20435Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterNo I lost Cao Bao, Mi Fang, Sun Qian and Che Zhou at Xia Pi, when Che Zhou betrayed me and joined Kong Rong. He had a 92 loyalty too, what the fuck.

Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei), even a 100 loyalty officer could easily betray you, unlike in the latter ROTKs, starting from 4.
Here are some useless stats:
ROTK with the most unloyal officers: ROTK2
ROTK which I try to understand how come ruler die so easily: ROTK5, ROTK1 (Officers in general die too easily in the first one)
My favorite: ROTKX
One i’d like to see: ROTK7, 9 and XI in english.
END OF USELESS STATS.

July 17, 2006 at 3:27 pm #20437Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYeah RTK 3 is my favorite but it’s so easy to manipulate other rulers by allying with them and waiting for them to betray you. You can clean out their entire force after they do that…and you can recruit Guan Yu and Zhang Fei from Liu Bei (if Liu Bei betrays someone and their loyalty goes to 80). It’s only family (Liu Xun – Liu Zhang, Sun Family, Cao Family, Yuan Family, etc).

Which usually means I end up picking Cao Cao as the next ruler, since I attack He Jin early on to get rid of his worthless ass.
My order of succession usually has Cao Cao somewhere :P

July 19, 2006 at 3:13 pm #20442CommieCatGirlParticipantI usually choose Cui Yan if I’m a ruler without an heir, just because he’s bad ass.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby
July 19, 2006 at 3:44 pm #20443Perhong_AngtongParticipantOne of the problems in all this, is that from ROTK9, I think, if you played as a ruler and did not find anybody as an heir, the game would end… Sad but true. (Already happened in ROTKX, my whole family was dead, so I died without an heir at the old age of 100…)

August 13, 2006 at 3:00 pm #20445Perhong_AngtongParticipantUnfortunately, I don’t think you can… Except if you side with Cao Cao to take Pu Yang from Lu Bu.

August 14, 2006 at 5:38 pm #20447Perhong_AngtongParticipantOh and if you play as Zhang Fei at Hu Lao Gate, you’ll be able to do the Duel against Lu Bu, I almost won one time, but it seems the game just makes it a Draw…
