Battle of Yan Province
“Some lights only shine in the deepest darkness of chaos. There is a goal, a loved one, and it doesn’t matter the hurt or the betrayal as long as the goal is achieved, the loved on protected.
In the year 194 AD, Lu Bu and his men moved towards Pu Yang Castle in an effort to drive out Cao Cao and gain a new land to call their own.”

Strategy: Lu Bu has just slain Dong Zhuo and has no home to turn to. Thus, Pu Yang seems like an ideal area to settle down. Lu Bu (and Diao Chan) starts out in the north-center area, with Zhang Liao to his left and Gao Shun to his right (each has 2 sub-generals). Now this battle can either be very easy for you, or very hard, depending on how fast you go. Regardless of which general you choose, you have a simple objective; kill each general and surround Pu Yang from all sides (north/east/west). If you’re Diao or Lu, head south, slaughtering Zhu Ling and Man Chong along the way. Zhang Liao meanwhile will push through Yu Jin and Li Dian. Chen Gong will announce that he is ready to open the gates, but you must be in position to do so first.

Zhang Liao however will be ambushed by Xun Yu, and it is especially dangerous if you are not Zhang Liao as he has a high propensity to die. Obviously saving him helps morale so try to do so. If you ARE Zhang Liao, you might as well keep going and ignore the ambush troops.
Lu Bu gets ambushed himself. It seems it is triggered when Zhu Ling is defeated. Anyway, Cao Hong comes with Xiahou En and Cao Xiu, and they start in your starting position (so a little north of you). Cao Hong’s morale is high so try to kill those three as fast as possible and get on with your trip. If you are not Lu Bu, Lu Bu will offer to fight the resistance himself, which can be useful but dangerous (he could die, or he could be in prime position to die if Cao Cao comes).
Which leads us to the issue of Cao Cao and the main army arriving. If you take too long (chances are the rest of your generals will be dead too) Cao Cao will show up, with Dian Wei and Xu Zhu as his guards. Worse yet, Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, and Cao Ren all show up as separate generals. Chen Gong also will retreat from battle if it goes this bad. Needless to say, this is the “hard” part about this stage. If you are NOT Lu Bu, you might as well hurry next to him to make sure he doesn’t die. He’ll be charged up and if you’re around him he should be okay, but if you abandon him he’ll die for whatever reason. Anyway, kill Cao Cao’s forces and ignore the attack on the castle. None of them are powered up but they have a high morale and an abundance of officers.

Now when you are done with Cao Cao (or if you are working so fast that Cao Cao hasn’t came yet) surround the castle with your troops. It’s not enough to kill the main generals; you have to lead your troops to each corner. When this happens the doors will be thrown open by Chen Gong and Xun Yu will be there alone. Kill the Guard Captains, but watch out for Xun Yu. His attack is high and he’s powered up, but still he’s just a common advisor character with a generic moveset.
