Titan’s Tunnel
Rest up at Melmond after the Vampire battle. Buy some more stuff then head west to the Titan’s Tunnel.
A light green and interesting figure will be barring your progress here. He likes Rubies. Well, you got that Ruby from the Vampire. So, give it to the Titan and then the dude just disappears into the thin air.
Go south at the intersection for a house with treasures. Get the Great Axe, 620 Gold, 450 Gold, and Silver Helmet. Then go north to exit.
Sarda’s Cave
Sarda is inside the other cave south of Titan’s Tunnel. Go inside his house and you’ll see that green sage hanging out. Talk to him and he gives you the ROD and advises you to take the Rod to the Vampire’s Earth Cave.
Earth Cave
Remember the altar north of the Vampire’s house where you fought him? Well rest up and go back there.
When you get there, go in front of it. When you press start to pop up the menu, you’ll see the coffin turn into a staircase for a split second – hmm. Use the Rod on it and it disappears.
You’re in a totally different area. Go north and west to the room with lots of treasures. Expect lots of Hyena, Wizard Ogre, Sphinx and Great Ogre battles near the chests. From the right to left, 3400 Gold, Wooden Staff, 1455 Gold, 1520 Gold, and 5450 Gold. To the far southwest for another building. Get the Cabin, 1250 Gold and Silver Shield. The exit to the next floor is in the northwest corner.
There is nothing in this room other than one room. Is it to the west (stay south). Inside is an orange ball…it is the Fiend of Earth, Lich.
Fire 3 and Harm 3 are your best friends here. Just attack him with your Fighters. He’ll use Ice 2 for heavy damage on you, Sleep 2 to get you napping and physical attacks as well. He has around 400 HP so it should take a few turns. Go north to the orb and you will appear outside of the Earth Cave. Thank goodness.
Crescent Lake
Crescent Lake is a rather barren town. To get there, sail due south of the Earth Cave and then east along the south part of the continent. As you follow it along the east sea you’ll see a port. Take it and go west and you’ll see Crescent Town.
Lots of expensive spells here. For some reason you can’t get Exit yet. Soft is damn useful when you get stoned. Lit3 is the black magic level 6 prize while Qake, Rub and Stun are the others. Silver Armor is here (Silver Weapons too) so buy what you can afford.
Far to the east are the twelve Crescent Sages. They have some good advice for you – one of them even gives you the Canoe! You can now travel along the darker blue rivers (you’ll get off your boat and into the Canoe).
Gurgu Volcano
Travel via canoe north and west of Crescent Lake. Eventually you’ll reach an area with a Volcano, this is where the Fire Orb lies. You’ll notice fire spots on the floor, you get damaged 1 for stepping on them. It’s unavoidable mostly but just watch your HP.
Head to the northwest in the first room for the staircase down. In the next room, go north into the huge building. Tons of treasures here. Go north and get the Silver Helmet, you’ll have to fight a Fire Elemental for it. In the northeast corner is 4150 gold. South all the way for 1520 gold. Northwest of the Silver Helmet is a Giant Sword. You’ll fight several Fire Elemental battles around here. Back east and north to the wall, then west to see two treasures. One is 795 Gold the other is 750 Gold. South all the way to a boatload of treasures. The first is a Silver Gauntlet, then Silver Helmet, Heal, Cabin, 1975 Gold, Pure, 1455 Gold, 1520 Gold, 1760 Gold, Silver Shield, Silver Axe, and another Heal. Get out of this building and go to the southwest corner for the staircase down.
Lots of fire here. Go to the east for the staircase. Next area, to the southeast for the staircase. Go to the very south and then west. You’ll see the staircase.
Go in the building, get the Soft and 2750 Gold. Watch out for the Agama and Grey W. West and in the next building for 1750 Gold. Northwest now to a building with lots o treasure. Get the Pure, 7340 Gold, Flame Shield, Ice Sword and 880 Gold.
Start heading southeast now to a new building. Grab the 155 Gold and 10 Gold (ew) and then go northeast. Three treasures here, House, 2000 Gold and an empty chest. South more for 1250 gold and Wooden Staff. South more finally for the staircase.
Lots of spots to go. Go west and you’ll fight a Red Dragon and get a Flame Armor. This is about it though. There are buildings in the other corners but most of them have no treasures or treasures that are empty. Instead just go straight southwest.
Inside is another orb, the Fire Orb. You are about to fight Kary. She is pretty difficult and your Black Mage really isn’t that useful for you – use Lit 3 but even that isn’t that good. You’re better off casting Fast on your Fighter’s and just attack her down. Hopefully that Ice Sword will help.
Go north, get that Fire Orb, and north more to leave.
Ice Cavern
To get to the Ice Cave, go to Pravoka. From here, head southeast and you’ll see a river to use the canoe. Go west, take the first path north, then continue on the west route. You’ll reach the Ice Cave.
Go east when you enter. Follow the path east and around until you get to a staircase. Then go south and west in the next room for a staircase.
A quick stairs, and then south and into a big building. The northwest treasure is a Flame Sword and the other one you can get to is a Cloth (guarded by Mages).
Drop down and you’ll be in a room. South one spot for an automatic battle against a ton of undead enemies. You’ll see ice that damages you on this floor. Weird. Go west and into the room for two Frost Dragons in a battle. Get the Ice Armor and Silver Gauntlet and leave. Go south a long ways until you see another building. Inside are six treasures with the northeast one being guarded by Frost Wolves. Get the 7900 Gold, 5450 Gold, 180 Gold, 12350 Gold, 5000 Gold, and 9900 Gold. East for the exit.
Get the Heal and 10,000 Gold you can see in this area. See the stairs in the northeast corner? Do not go up them, or you will leave the Ice Cave and have to start over. Instead, go in the building in front of you and get the three treasures, 9500 Gold, Tent, and Ice Shield. Equip that Shield then drop down the hole.
You will fight the boss here, the Eye. It has several instant death attacks but it’s HP is so low that your Fighters are bound to knock it out fast. Grab the Floater in the treasure and drop down again. You’ll have to make your way south and east up the stairs, then northeast up the staircase to leave.
Take this Floater item to the Ryukahn Desert. While standing on the Ryukahn Desert use the Floater item and the Airship arises. Travel has become much easier.
Cardia Islands
Now that we have the Airship, go to the Titan’s Tunnels and then north. When you reach large land, go east and you’ll see a bunch of holes on islands. Go to the southeast one surrounded by forest. Inside is 2750 Gold, 2000 Gold, 1455 Gold, 160 Gold, 9500 Gold, 1520 Gold, and 2750 Gold. Go west to the marsh hole and go in for 10 Gold, 250 Gold and a House. The far west hole has a Cabin, 575 Gold and Soft. The one with two holes has a lot of dragons and the king dragon Bahamut. In order for Bahamut to raise your levels and promote you, you need to go to the Castle of Ordeals.
Castle of Ordeals
This is northeast of these islands. You’re going to have to park your airship a long ways away and walk though.
As you go in, talk to the sage and then go northwest into the throne and enter. Just keep taking the cylinder white things to teleport. When you have a choice, take the south one. Next choice – take the south again. Next choice you’ll take the east to continue.
Now go to the northeast for a building. Inside is a treasure but three mudGols protect it. A Zeus Gauntlet is here but you can’t equip it. Go south to where there are two of those white teleport things and take the southwest one. Then the stairs.
North and Nitemare bars your way. Get the Heal Staff, and it’s damn useful for the White Mage to Use in battle. West for an Iron Gauntlet, Ice Sword and Gold Bracelet. South for four treasures, 7340 Gold, 1455 Gold, House and Empty. Finally, go east to get the Tail and go in the throne to exit. You’ll have to fight some Zombie Dragons to leave though.
Back to where the two holes were and take the southeast one. Go all the way to Bahamut. Since you have the Tail of a rat you can promote your characters. Bahamut does this to all of them. It’s not much, but now they can equip more armor / weapons, and also buy spells that they couldn’t before (like Exit or Warp).
Waterfall
First go to the northwest, so north of the Titan Caves. You’ll see a large desert, so get off your ship south of that where you can. Go north through the desert and the small patch at the top is actually an Oasis. Within you must buy the Bottle for 50,000 and then use it.
Gaia
Travel to Gaia via your ship. It is in the northeast corner of the land and it’s enclosed by mountains.
Inside you can buy some great level 7 magic, and some expensive Weapons / armor for your mages. In the northeast area is level 8 spells but only Stop and Wall are really useful. In the far northeast is where the released Fairy went to. The Fairy gives you Oxyale so you can survive in water.
Onrac
Near where you got that bottle, you can now go east and into Onrac town. Buy some things if you want, specifically Heal 3, and then head south and all the way east. Talk to the lady who disappears once she sees you have Oxyale. Enter the thing she was guarding.
Sea Shrine
Start going north when you enter, and take the left path into a room to get 9900 Gold. The treasure in the southeast is 2000 Gold. Now take the stairs going down in the northeast. Head to the west and northwest eventually to find Opal Armor. In the southwest is a Light Axe and east of this is a Mage Staff. South a little and further east is 12350 gold. Southeast for a staircase. North for an Opal Bracelet, 1760 Gold and 9000 Gold. Some mermaids are here too. North more for 2750 Gold. Go far to the northwest for Slab, Opal Gauntlet, and Opal Helmet. Back east and south a little for 4150 Gold. North of this for 10000 and 10 Gold. South more for a Pure and southeast for Opal Shield. North of this for 2750 Gold and now go back to the beginning.
Take the northwest stairs now. Work your way north in this area and you’ll reach some stairs. Keep going down them until you get to a larger room with some treasures, so get the 110 Gold, 450 Gold, and continue down the staircase south.
On this floor make sure to get all the Gold, Power Gauntlet and especially the Ribbon. Take the upper left passage for the stairs and then follow the next area to the Water Orb and the Kraken. This battle is pretty easy – Lit3 takes off a ton. Your Knights should be even better if you cast Fast on them. Watch out for it’s attacks on your mages – get the orb and go north to exit.
back at Onrac you should rest and go north via canoe to the Waterfall.
Waterfall
Head northwest, and then south, and east. This is a large area and it’ll take a while, but you’ll come to a Cyclops. He gives you the Cube for getting to the Floating Island. Start grabbing the treasures, like Wizard Staff, Ribbon, 13450 Gold, 6400 Gold, 5000 Gold and Defense Sword. Leave now.
Melmond
Back in Melmond, you can go to the northeast part and talk to the dude by the graves. He notices the SLAB you have and then takes it from you. Huh?
Lefein
North of Provoka (and a little east) is Lefein. You have to park your ship northwest and walk. Not much to do here but talk to everyone and get the Chime in the southeast. The Lefeinish actually have decent information for you.
The best spell in the game is here. Go to the northeast and walk east – you can keep walking and not leave the town! You can now buy Life2 and Nuke. Do so obviously.
Mirage Tower
Get on your airship and go northwest a little to a desert. From there walk further northwest until you see the Mirage Tower.
In this first area, go north into the room. Start getting the treasures, including 880 Gold, Heal Helmet, 3400 Gold, 18010 Gold, Vorpal, 2750 Gold, Aegis Shield, and a Cabin. Now take the stairs just left of where you came in.
Follow this path as it wraps to the northwest. If you go to the southwest you’ll see a door to enter the center structure. Start getting the treasures inside – 8135 Gold, 7900 Gold, Thor Hammer, 12350 Gold, 13000 Gold, House, 7690 Gold, Sun Sword, 10000 Gold, and Dragon Armor. North of here for the stairs.
Go south here and in for a Blue Dragon fight. Since you have a Cube, you can use the transporter.
Floating Castle
South for a Bane Sword. Take the west building for 7900 Gold, 4150 Gold, Heal, and 9900 Gold. Lastly, go east for 180 Gold, 5000 Gold, 6720 Gold, ProRing and another Heal Helmet. North to warp to the next level.
In this area, go to the northwest building for House and Silver Helmet and the northeast building for Opal Gauntlet. The east has Opal Shield and Ribbon and the west has 880 Gold and 13000 Gold. Southwest for Adamant and southeast for Black Shirt and White Shirt. South to exit.
In this weird new area, go east into a building. You can look out onto the guy like the Cyclops fellow suggests. The treasures are 8135 Gold, ProCape, 9500 Gold, Cloth, 6400 Gold, and Soft. Go north into a building for Heal, 5450 Gold, 9000 Gold and ProRing. Finally, west for 4150 Gold, Soft, 3400 Gold, and Katana.
You are now in a maze. You need to go down twice and right twice and enter. You will be in a long corridor going north. Tiamat the fiend of Wind is here to stop you. Tiamat is no joke – easily the toughest boss you’ve fought yet. Even at higher levels it’s defense and 1000 HP will make the battle long. Have Heal 3, Life 2 and Cure 4 ready. Nuke is your best bet with the Black Wizard, and just keep attacking with your Knights.
Get your orb and go north to exit. This is all four orbs!
After leaving, you should go to the Dwarf Cave. You have Adamant now so go northwest and to the blacksmith. Give it to him and he gives you the Xcalber, or Excalibur, Excaliber, whatever you want to call it – it’s the best sword in the game.
What else is left for you to do?
Temple of Fiends
Head back here, north of Coneria. Talk to the bats in the room Garland was in. They are the 5 Sky Warriors transformed. You are to go to the Black Orb and it will turn into a teleport – you will go 2000 Years back in time to fight the greatest evil of all, Chaos.
Head to the southeast stairs going up, and then the nearby stairs. Go to the south and then north into that room. You’ll fight a Phantom. Just attack the thing, watch out for Stop and some of it’s instant death attacks. Xcalber should do you well here, don’t waste your Nuke spells (save them if at all possible until chaos). Get the 45000 Gold and 65000 Gold (don’t walk on the Phantom spot unless you want another battle) and go near the grey spot and play the Lute. Go up.
This is the ice floor as you can see. Watch out for the Chimera’s and Jimera’s (creative palette swap Square). You’re going to want to head for the northwest stairs going down.
Go towards the stairs in the southeast in this room, and you’ll battle Lich. Lich is harder this time, as in he uses Nuke. Because of this Lich is the hardest boss here until Chaos. Not a fun or rewarding enemy to fight unless you enjoy casting Cure on yourself. Fortunately Xcalber and your other members should be able to terminate Lich and his low HP count.
In this area, work your way through the north building to the east and then south past the staircase exit. Start going southwest and get the ProRing chest and then a Katana far to the south. Go to the southeast for a ProCape and further to the east for 26000 Gold.
Back to where the staircase going down is. You’ll come to Kary. As usual, watch for the high level Fire spells and her multi-hit attacks – they can kill even your Knights.
This next floor is the Sea floor as you’ll see. Head straight for the southeast so you can get to Kraken fast. You’ll want Kraken to waste it’s attacks using ink. It’s physical attacks can hurt and he can use some magic. Really though, despite his HP and defense he is pretty weak. In this next area, you can go east right away to fight Tiamat. But don’t do that. Instead go far south and then east. You’ll fight some tough golems and such, but you’ll come to Masmune, another great abreviation for Masamune. Did I say the Xcalber (Excalibur) is the best sword? I lied, it’s the Masmune by 11 damage points (and better hit % of course). With two fighters wielding those two weapons, head for Tiamat. He likes Bane, Thunder and physical attacks.
As you get to the top, you’ll notice there are no random battles.
Garland is up here. The Four Fiends sent him 2000 years back into time. So basically Garland is a lot tougher because of that? As you talk to him once, he’ll move north a spot. Talk to him again and he moves up again. Now heal up and be ready. The next time you talk, it’s time for battle against Garland who has tranformed into Chaos.
Chaos is huge. He’ll cast whatever spell he wants and will also attack you. Unfortunately for him he has access to every spell so he’ll waste turns on Slo2 and Lit3 instead of Nuke-ing your ass. His physical attacks can wipe you out as well. Stick to your bread and butter, using Nuke on him and keeping everyone in good HP standing with Cure4.
After Chaos slowly disintegrates (starting an FF trend) you get a lovely text ending. It’s about as grand as the Final Fantasy XII ending. Revive the orbs Light Warriors! Heh
where can you find kyukahn desert in ff1 for psp
Kyukahn Desert huh. I don’t remember it playing the NES Final Fantasy….
How far are you into the game? Just starting? I wonder if it’s an addition to the PSP version of FF1….
its the place you have to take the floater to to turn it into an airship
http://www.lordyuanshu.com/images/FF/Fiends/fly.PNG
That’s the Ryukahn Desert. They must have re-named it Kyukahn Desert in Final Fantasy I PSP. Anyway, you just use the floater there. Just sail south to get there I think and look for a desert surrounded by mountains…let me know if that helps
Hello, i realy need help with ff1 psp, i dont know how to get the canoe and by the looks of things thats what i need to do what i need next, can you help please?
http://www.lordyuanshu.com/final-fantasy-1-i-lich-excalibur-chaos-faq
Page 3 of my guide has the answer. You go to Crescent Lake, after defeating the Fiend of Earth the Lich. At Crescent Lake, talk to the 12 Crescent Sages. One of the twelve gives you the canoe!
Let me know if that works for you….
hi… where can i get a ruby??? and do you have a maps?
You get the Ruby in the Earth Cave, where you fight the Vampire. Go here.
http://www.lordyuanshu.com/final-fantasy-i-corneria-walkthrough-faq
Follow the directions there and you should be okay. I have no maps, sorry, but the directions are perfect so just follow them to the boss if you want.
Press Circle and select at your PSP, this
will bring up a map pf the FF world.
I still can’t find Cresent Lake, i went south from the earth cave and went east, but i find no port
Hmm. Well, keep searching that area southeast of the Earth Cave. You should find an inlet that leads to the Crescent Lake. Maybe you didn’t go far enough and are near the Gurgu Volcano
Here is a picture of Gurgu Volcano (of the NES version). Crescent Lake is still southeast of here.
http://www.lordyuanshu.com/images/FF/Fiends/gurgu.PNG
Tnx i found out, but now how do i get to the waterfall?
I think you go to the Waterfall after you see Bahamut and promote your characters.
Before you go to the Waterfall though, there are things you need to do. You have to go north of the Titan Caves to visit Onrac Village where you can get the Oxyale that lets you breathe underwater. Only then can you enter the Waterfall. Just Ctrl F “Castle of Ordeals” and scroll down a tad – you will see the full instructions telling you how to get to the Waterfall.
If you have more questions though let me know

What’s the easyist way to kill chaos with a knight, master, black, and white wizard? Please help.
I am doing the best with a Ninja, Master, White Wizard, and Black Wizard. I’ve haven’t lost any bosses by now. I am at the start of the Sunken Temple. In my old file, I beat it with a Red Mage, Their, Black Mage, and Warrior. Now, Red Mage and Warrior are my least favorite jobs. I’m very unusual.
