ModeratorBest Story line/Text Modifications:
Yuan Shao Mod: All new story, great modifications to the original game and a pioneer in DOAE modding.Best Map Modifications:
Yuan Shu Mod, although quirky, still has some great map modifications with “potential”Best Battle System / Tactic Modifications:
This isn’t a mod, but a functionality by MiDKnighT that is currently bugged, but the ability to program officer types/profiles with different weapon/tactic types. Would be awesome if it worked for a profile other than “Officer”.Best Difficulty Modifications:
Yuan Shao Mod going under a revamp with it’s difficulty has definately stepped up since its previous incarnations.Best Portraits:
Only competetitor out there in my opinion currently is the Yuan Shao Mod.Best ROM Tool:
Although incomplete, (and currently bugged), DOAEditor w/ shop, tactic, and profile modificationBest ROM Enhancement:
It’s between menu modification and the currently bugged officer profiles by MiDKnighT.Best Comedy in a Mod:
“Cao Cao slap Cao Hong!”… need I say more?ROM of the Year: My nomination is still the Yuan Shao Mod

ModeratorFYI, Rise of Lu Bu was released in version 3.0 in 2013 which included massive game updates, story changes, and battle balancing.

ModeratorBest Story line/Text Modifications: I’m still gonna go with Rise of Ieyasu on this one. A mod that completely changes the story and context of the game. I was also intrigued with Tyrant Dong Zhuo’s historical context but I didn’t get a chance to finish that game so I’ll stick with Ieyasu.
Best Map Modifications: You could put any of sonic’s mods in this category but I’ll go with Flames of Wu since it’s the last one I played.
Best Battle System / Tactic Modifications: I’ll go with Ludmeister’s Remix 3.0 since he personally worked on some of the battle system / tactic modification changes (like 8 tactics, officers having their own tactics, etc…).
Best Difficulty Modifications: I like mods that are not too hard but not too easy either. Flames of Wu gets a bit on the hard side at times but I could tell a lot of work was put into balancing it so I’ll go with that one.
Best Portraits: Easily Flames of Wu. So many great portraits added.
Best ROM Tool: Is there any other choice? DoaEditor.
Best ROM Enhancement: Not going to choose one of my own and I need to tweek some of them. So I’ll go with the tactic/weapon icons by ludmeister (with the help and inspiration from DragonAtma).
Best Comedy in a Mod: Lord Yuan Shu is still the mod that made me laugh out loud a few times.
ROM of the Year: Flames of Wu. Another complete mod by sonic which alters the game in just about every conceivable way. This is what a DoaE mod should be

ModeratorRegrettably I’ll have to pass on making nominations, for two reasons:
(1) I have yet to finish Destiny of Jin Xuan; I have multiple projects, but hey, the DoJX world is about 75% designed (and then I can just copy it over to the game itself).
(2) To avoid being influenced, I don’t play other mods. I wouldn’t want to accidentally borrow things from other mods. :(But hey, there’ll be even more progress in 2014. Especially if someone’s willing to help out with modding RoTK2, thereby opening up more time for Atma to do DoJX work!

That’s a bunch of Huo Hu Powder if I ever saw it! Actually, I’ve got a ton of ideas I ripped off of other people’s mods that “worked”. Why reinvent the wheel, the axle, and the armadillo? If it works, by all means use it! In retrospect, my earliest mods were major suckage… It was only after I played other mods like Ludmeister’s Remix, Yuan Shao’s Revenge, the Yuan Shu Mod, and even the crappy Lu Bu Mod which totally overstatted people (but made me realize how I needed to balance my own mods) all helped me make changes to dialogue, maps, tactics, and more! :LiuBei:

ModeratorQuestion, aren’t these the 2013 Huo Hu Awards? :vap:

KeymasterYea I was thinking the same thing. Voting done in 2014 but for 2013-and-before eligible mods.
I gotta play a lot of these again to have a worthy vote.

ParticipantBest Story line/Text Modifications: Flames of Wu – The changing generations of the Sun family was EPIC!
Best Map Modifications: Rise of Ieyasu 2.0 – The map was confusing to navigate at times, but it was shaped just like Japan. The daimyo were all placed historically!
Best Battle System / Tactic Modifications: Whichever one introduced 8 tactic slots. Nothing pissed me off more than losing tactics I liked.
Best Difficulty Modifications: Yuan Shao’s Revenge – The general selections in this mod were really cool.
Best Portraits: Rise of Ieyasu – Holy cow, the portraits made this game a totally different feel!
Best ROM Tool: I have no clue :(
Best ROM Enhancement: Being able to pass multiple weapons and items on the same menu without having to start everything from scratch again.
Best Comedy in a Mod: Yuan Shu’s Mod was pretty off the wall
ROM of the Year: Rise of Ieyasu – This felt like a totally different gaming experience
I enjoyed everyone’s mods! keep them coming :)

Glad I wasn’t the only one completely annoyed by the menu in the original game

ModeratorI’m going to modify one of the categories. Instead of “Best ROM Tool” it will be “Best Destiny of an Editor Feature” since DoaEditor doesn’t have any real competition for DoaE modding tools.
My nomination goes to Niahak’s map editor. Although there may be some changes on it in the coming weeks after seeing the guts behind it I am thoroughly impressed with what he did there.

ModeratorBest Destiny of an Editor Feature of 2013: The ability to edit officer battle location and text without having to manually hex that in was a HUGE change to the DOAEditing world. I remember going through the Rise of Ieyasu mod and counting through all 4 arrays to change each location of the specific battle I wanted, it was a total nightmare and then going through the proper banks and lines to edit openers and closers made modding battles insanely slow. Now, changing battle officers, location, and dialogue is a snap… at least when the text editor is working.
