Turns out the game is a remake of ROTK3. They added some skills from ROTK 4 though. Well, actually, they look more like ROTK7 skills. I’m going to investigate this some more.
BTW, I’m actually playing it through emulation. You can run this game with no$GBA or iDeaS.
September 9, 2007 at 4:16 pm #24162Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterWow they chose RTK3? That’s the pinnacle of RTK, for me at least.

I’m finally downloading it to try it out. :)

You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

Apparently the DS emulator world hasn’t found Macintosh [well] yet.
I’ve been too lazy to launch it in Parallelsâ€
June 26, 2008 at 2:56 am #24167DragonAtmaModeratorI’m sorry, m’lord, but RotK3 will never be as good as RotK2.
June 26, 2008 at 4:56 am #24168Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterhaha see it’s the other way around for me. I do enjoy 2 though especially the personal battles at the beginning of combat and that fact that the Siml attacks take off a ton more.

June 26, 2008 at 9:34 pm #24170DragonAtmaModeratorIt may be a bit easy, but it’s good fun!
June 26, 2008 at 9:51 pm #24171Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterOne more thing about RotK II that I found weird (though it’s probably the case in newer RTK’s) is that you can recruit anyone anywhere. I liked in RotKIII that you actually had to be next to the city of any given officer to be able to recruit them

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingJune 26, 2008 at 9:54 pm #24172DragonAtmaModeratorIIRC Wu made contacts with Zhuge Dan when he was about to rebel, yet he wasn’t by the border…
And although they let you recruit from anywhere, distance affects the time it takes — it’s quicker for Gongsun Zan to try to recruit from Luoyang than from Chengdu.
June 26, 2008 at 9:55 pm #24173Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterOh I agree I wasn’t saying it was a realistic aspect at all. Just saying as far as a gameplay element it worked well with the game so you couldn’t just grab a disgruntled Taishi Ci or Lu Bu like you can in 189 AD anywhere in RotK II.
But if I recall correctly, you can’t recruit a governor of a city in RotK II unless you are by them. Not sure on that though….
edit – the time it takes? Isn’t a recruit attempt just use up one character’s monthly turn either way?
I think I’m gonna get some RotK II time in tonight to refresh my memory on this game a bit.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingJune 26, 2008 at 10:05 pm #24174DragonAtmaModeratorIn Rotk2, yes, it ignores distance, but in later games (such as X) distance is a factor.
I’ve seen province 4 (Bing) change sides weirdly in my Li Jue challeneg game (including a recruitment by Ma Teng, who’d need to win a minimum of four battles to connect it to his traditional provinces!
And, for the record, the disgruntled Zhang Song was recruited (kind of) by a nonadjacent Liu Bei.
August 19, 2008 at 2:07 am #24175ultramanysParticipantI’ve played it, but I’ve moved onto ROTK 2 DS, which is a remake of ROTK 4. But it lacks some features such as inciting a local governor to rebel, giving how much gold to reward your officers, selling your rice for 1 gold per grain. It’s quite different but still the same overall.
