ParticipantAnyone ever played this game? It was another Koei classic on the NES/PC. It was based on another famed Chinese novel about the Bandits of The Watery Marsh, or Water Margin. Suikoden series basically took the idea for the 108 heroes from this book. Even the name means "Fantasy Water Margin".
Has anyone played the original Bandit Kings game? Did you know you could play as the Bandit Kings in the PC version of ROTK4? It’s pretty funny.

ParticipantI have the NES game of it, but never got into it.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

ParticipantThey were in ROTK4? Did it use the same map for their own scenario or where they just bonus characters?

ParticipantNo no, they were in ROTK 4 as special characters. You know how you can create your own characters to use in ROTK? Well, they also give you the bandit kings guys just for fun. As for bandit Kings being fun, that’s for you to decide. Just cause I like it doesn’t mean you’ll like it. It is closer to ROTK than an actual RPG, though.
You can read about the PC version (not to mention download it) here http://www.abandonia.com/games/502/download/BanditKingsofAncientChina.htm
There’s no real difference between the NES and PC version except for graphics and names. The NES version uses the nicknames rather than their Chinese names. Lin Chong is called Leopard Head in the NES version. Believe it or not, both names are accurate. Lin Chong’s nickname was indeed Leopard Head. So the NES version has easier names to remember. But, if you want, you can play PC version of ROTK4 and look at their name (real chinese names) and look at their stats. That will give you a head start and in knowing who’s actually good in what stat. Of course the real bandit kings game also gives you hundreds of completely made up characters to use as well.

ParticipantI was actually just playing this the other day, not a bad game. Very old school, I don’t really like the battle system but it can’t be perfect.
