I noticed you post this one on the El Sallia forums, so I was surprised to see you post it here, since it's so dead around here.

I've played a little of Wesnoth, but that was a few years ago – I'm sure it's far better now than it was when I tried it, so I'll have to check it out again. I think on CoES you said there was a Three Kingdoms themed mod/campaign?
The mention of free games reminds me though – my favorite indie game, The Spirit Engine 2, was just made freeware a couple weeks ago, and it's surely worth a try. http://www.thespiritengine.com/tse2-download.php
The Three Kingdoms themed mod/campaign is more or less takes the style of the RoTK games that there's taxes, diplomacy, recruiting things like that. The game now has like 16 "mainline" campaigns and theres at least 10 to 15 user made ones that you can download.
Just an update on the RoTK style campaign, its more of a RoTK lite style game. You have to manage your kingdom's happiness, need to train, and need to take care of local threats(battles). So its not really much at all like RoTK, more like a rpg turn based strategy game. Seems like a nice campaign just pretty difficult at first.
