ParticipantSo in the all-new remake of Destiny of an Emperor, very soon to reach the second beta stage (which would be considered quite close to the public release in this case), there will be one special in-game officer who can be fought anywhere in the game, but recruited after Cao Pi’s death. This could be a simple encounter in Wei, or it could even be an odd encounter in the Yellow Scarves’ territory.
I’m looking for good ideas. What do you think?
Here are some ideas which have already been considered:
Meng Huo
Meng Huo appears in random Shu encounters. After Cao Pi’s death he can be recruited. He would have a high strength, poor to passable intelligence, and a very very high soldier count.
Diaochan
From Florence: Diaochan appears in Dong Zhuo’s territory. You can come back and recruit her near the end of the game! She would use the dancer sprite. She would not have a portrait, though.
Xu Shu
From Florence: A good suggestion! Xu Shu, who previously left you to return to Wei, is loyal at first while the Cao family is in power, but once the Cao family is defeated, he is free to re-join Liu Bei’s cause!
Your Idea
Goes here…

ParticipantWhat about Shi Xie or Kong Rong?
Shi Xie
STR: 120
INT: 165
Soldiers: 2,500 (You’d fight him in one of the Yuan Shu castle battles with around 800 soldiers)
Recruitable: After Yuan Shu’s death/defeat
Reasoning: High soldier count for the territory. Would serve very well as a hit-absorber in Yuan Shao’s territory, Jing Zhou, and some of Shu.
Kong Rong
STR: 110
INT: 225
Soldiers: 20,000
Recruitable: After Cao Pi’s death
Reasoning: Good intelligence. Average strength. Good to use if you like using a intelligence-heavy party. His soldier count wouldn’t hurt either. Consider him a poor man’s Zhang Zhao or Zhou Yu, only with more soldiers and slightly less intelligence :)
…and *wink wink* ;)
Demon Zhang Lu! (me, not the one in the game presently) :P
STR: 250
INT: 200
Soldiers: Gains at level up
Recruitable: After Sun Quan’s death
Reasoning: I’m cool like that :P
Unless you wanna make Yuan Shao and Yuan Shu recruitable :)

ParticipantXu Shu Would be great, Diao Chan would be cool, too. Question though Can you make more characters gain soldiers at level up.

ParticipantHe could, technically…if he combined his apparent hex-editing with the DoaEditor. I used the editor to make EVERY general gain levels, how it should be. I wanted to see what it’d be like to go into the final Sima Yi battle with a party of Ji Ling, Wei Yan, Zhang Ren, Hua Xiong, and Li Ru :P

ParticipantNIce, I would love if all generals gained levels, or at least all the one with faces, and then the ones who are cool too,

KeymasterWhat was the special officer you decided on? Was this Wang / Xu Shu’s spot?
And who did he replace from the original DoaE ?

ParticipantIt is kind of a non-issue now that our hacking skillz have allowed us to do all sorts of insane recruiting things by moving people around in the game and in battles, but I believe I assigned this honor to Xu Shu. Wang is also recruitable in the new DoaE 2.0. He actually replaces Yi Ji. I modified Yi Ji’s script to make him recruitable. :)
