Destiny of an Emperor Ad in Fantastic Four Comic

So one of my bros is a big Marvel comic book collector and was reading a Fantastic Four comic from Jan 1991 (he likely got it a month or two prior so this is probably a push to get some Christmas sales). Check out this rocking DoaE ad:

The text in here is funny. Really pushing how tough Zhang Jao and the “hoarde” of Yellow Scarves are. 18,000 years ago, hmm. Conquering the game will take centuries; that part is almost true, just replace conquering with modding/replaying it over and over.

I bet this ad worked to get some sales though I think my brother bought it a bit before this anyway. I was born in 1984 and I do recall being about 6 and not knowing how to equip anything but somehow made it to the Dong Zhuo area before figuring stuff out.

This is really cool to read. Nice find! I still have only seen DOAE in the wild only a couple times, I’m surprised in retrospect there even was an advertising push based on how it sold. But I guess they got some superfans out of it…
