Have you guys seen this video? Pretty neat. Yes it is a tool assisted run but it shows how fast you could get through the game with perfect luck :)

I never saw the point of speedruns, especially tool-based ones. Challenges are much more fun.

I just thought it was interesting how efficient you could be in this game. Beating the game in the fastest possible way with 100% luck on your side. The same guy did one for Dragon Warrior that lasted 17 minutes!

Did this guy get critical hits every attack? Watching early on he must, either that or the game is hacked and his weapons are stronger. I'm assuming the tool allows critical hits to always happen for him.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingThe guy used tools to fight metal slimes repeatedly, he'd hit every turn, and the metal slines wouldn't run.
How the TAS works is you use the original game ROM but you essentially have a rewind button. For example, in DoaE if he's walking along and gets a random encounter, he rewinds a couple of frames then keeps walking. That's how he avoids all random encounters in the video. The re-record count on this video was over 11,000. That means he hit the rewind button over 11,000 times to get the desired result (either walking or fighting).
That's also how he did the metal slime thing on DW. No hacking involved, just tedious work with an emulator to get the desired results. I think this guy may have also scripted his emulator to do some of the rewinding for him (to avoid random encounters and such).

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingAny idea the rewind count on DW? For me it's typically 2 out of every 3 metal slimes runs before I can get that last hit in.

Ma Chao + Zhuge Liang have one of the lowest soldier counts. Zhao Yun starts off with the worst but quickly rises to #2 behind Zhang Bao. Ma Chao at least has Huang Zhong beat.
