Always thought this was really weird. Every 10 or 20 times I play through DoaE, Guo Ji will show up in the Xu Rong gate (which is where he is coded to show up). Most of the time this doesn't happen though.
In the Yuan Shu mod I tried to add him to the Hua Xiong Li Su battle (Fan Shui Guan) to no avail (he just didn't show up). What a weirdo. His hex value is 12 by the way.

Basically, if you're in battle and try to undo a battle action while on the first character, a glitch slays whoever's in slot FF (Guo Si).
So many interesting nuggets from Meteorstrike. The key really is analyzing all the wonderful data that fce ultra spews out.

2. Know all the trace options in FCE Ultra.
3. Have a basic understanding of ROM hacking.

I added Li Jue to the Luo Yang battle with Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu. When I did that, the battle had a Rebel Force still in there but the force had 52345 soldiers. I died, came back and he had 1200, died and came back and the Rebel Force had 1000. So I'm thinking somehow me putting Li Jue in there made the Rebel Force turn into a Wu-area level Rebel Force.
*edit – just after I write that, I go back and the Rebel has 120 soldiers. Weird.

Yea I'm aware of those two variables, this seems to be unrelated to them (because I have Game Genie codes on so I just walk through the mountains to get to Luo Yang to test which Rebel is there). Thus, I definitely haven't recruited Li Jue at that point, and the Xu Rong / Guo Ji factor shouldn't be relevant because I haven't fought a battle yet (meaning that I haven't hit back when choosing a move, thus killing Guo Ji in the code lol).
Oh well, I'll just leave it in there since the last one was 120 soldier Rebel Force. With my luck some rare DoaE fan will want to play and get the 52500 version huohu

Luo Yang is around line 30DA0 and the officers are
BB BC 04 04 00
BB = Dong Zhuo
BC = Lu Bu
04 = Rebel Force
lol. How else did you think I added Li Jue? Through that as reference. But yea, I suppose adding a fourth general would be an option to ensure the Rebel would never be overpowered.
