ParticipantWould you like to help in testing to see if the open treasures bug is fixed?
Well, read on!
Hello everyone. While I’ve been working on Destiny of an Emperor 2.0 and the Cao Cao edition I’ve also been making adjustments here and there to a revised version of the original Destiny of an Emperor ROM. Little changes like correcting officer names, using familiar pinyin for location names, fixing script errors, and other goodies here and there. I’m doing this so people who just want to play the regular game can play a cleaner version and I’m also adding hacked improvements so people who want to mod the game can base their mod on this version for easier editing and script writing.
It isn’t completely ready yet, but due to a special development and other potential good, I’ve decided to share its current version here to see if anyone would like to test it and help with this little project. It will play pretty much like a regular ol’ familiar game of Destiny of an Emperor!
Download the ROM and play, giving feedback about anything of interest!
What To Test
Please check for any of the following problems while playing the game:
Open Treasures Bug: MeteorStrike has mostly figured out what causes the open treasures bug to take place and he has also figured out some value adjustments for the game which might do away with it completely (or perhaps even cause good things to happen in cases where bad things would have ruined your game). If this works out, the open treasures bug could be a thing of the past! What do you do? Play the game, and let me know if any items appear or vanish from spots or treasures where they should be! Pay attention to anything else unusual. Please use two or more tacticians in your party whenever possible to improve your chances of triggering this normally nasty bug!
Script Errors and Improvements: If you encounter any script errors which haven’t yet been resolved please report them. When reporting a script error please report the whole script, or at least the first part of it, otherwise it will be very hard to find in the ROM. If you see any references to Han Zhongx or Tao Qianx please report them, too! Please note that Han Zhong and Tao Qian have had an ‘x’ appended to their names for script testing purposes. Any other script concerns or suggestions are also welcome.
Questions for Everyone
Please check for any of the following problems while playing the game:
Tactic Costs and Value: As a rule, thus far, I haven’t changed anything in the game itself. I could, however, change things like tactic TP costs and damage to make tactics more practical. Shui Lei, if I recall correctly, targets only one enemy and does little more damage than the cheaper Yan Re tactic, which targets everyone. I could increase its damage to make it useful. Other tactics like Fu Bing, Qi Shou, Cheng Nei—they’re just not really worth using much at their current TP cost levels. Is this something worth looking at?
Weapon/Armor/Item Costs/Stats: If we wanted adjustments could be made to equipment in the game. The sword, for example, could be tweaked down to 110 AP to improve balance. Other items could be made more or less expensive. I haven’t really considered doing these things but the option is open to us.
Tactic Names: The final release of this ROM will probably feature familiar tactic names, such as An Sha, Huo Shen, Shui Long. Or perhaps I could go with English tactic names—or both. It is something we can consider.
ROM Hackers: Are there any changes you would like to see in a default copy of Destiny of an Emperor that might improve your modding experience? Let me know!
So if you’ve got a moment, share some feedback or play through and offer your thoughts!
