Change that FA at the end to FF and the Halberd has an attack power of 255.
This list is out of order at the bottom. It should read Qing Guang, Nu Long, Qing Long.
That's great. I need to put in Destiny of an Emperor 2 Yuan Shu sprite.
I already have the assembly code in place to have 126 more sprites stored in 3 ROM pages (expanded ROM). The trick now is converting the DoaE2 sprite format to DoaE1 sprite format in mass… Just a matter of re-arranging their positions.
updated, read on first page
Added "– Loading New Sprite Banks for Up to 210 Sprites (Expanded ROM)" section and added more info about soldier gains and critical hit formula.
Have a question, and I want to bump this thread up anyway.
This is actually pretty easy. Just change line 0x3C610 using the color palette below:
How do we know the order of the characters? I found the area and see Liu Bei and friends, but just curious how I'm going to know who I'm editing?
Doesn't seem to be in the same order as they are in hex – (ie Pirate Force 01, Brigand Force 02, Bandit Force 03, Rebel Force 04, Zhou Chao 08, etc).
You'd be dealing with palette colors, not individual characters; if you gave Guan Yu dark green clothes, you'd also be giving dark green clothes to Huo Hu, Liu Feng, Dong Zhuo, Rebel Force, etc.
Exactly. There are 4 character color palettes in the game for sprites. Every sprite has one of those 4 palettes. If you change one of those palettes you're changing about 25% of the sprites.
Thanks for the clarification dudes. Makes sense now.
Considering that, I won't make too many alterations. Changing the Zhang Fei green to 3C (more of a sea green) and getting rid of that hideous pink (last hex – 14) for a darker purple (04). We'll see..
Changed the portrait color too. Hot pink is now red / maroon, Clown Barf is now Aqua-ish
Is there a faster way to add 0's to the rom for expansion other than holding down the '0' key for hours on end. I tried to copy and paste but it just made 30's lol.
I just used cut and paste (of zeros)
Well as Niahak said in the DoaEd thread you can expand the file with WindHex and the values become FF but it doesn't matter until you change them anyway.
This step has been a bitch so far lol. Windhex has no copy / paste, and while Hexecute does have copy paste it only lets me copy as far as the screen can scroll down / up (ie when you try to scroll further down it stops going with lol). So this would take like 20 separate copy pastes to do but I might do it just to get it over with
*edit – Well, I dumped the binary data from 3C010-40010 and then inserted it at 7C010 to 80000. So maybe I'm ok. But just to be sure, I leave 3C010-40010's data in there right? So essentially this end-game hex is at the end of 40000 and 80000.
