Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterSo starting off in the Yellow Turban area I tried to make a path that leads to the northeast of that continent (regions 23/24/38/39, previously inaccessible). So I do that and go over there via bridges and then I start fighting Brigands and Pirates with 40-50k soldiers. Also run into Jiang Qin over there and then get slaughtered.
Also found a spot in that area where it makes the sound like I'm going into a fort, and then I show up in some unknown area walking around aimlessly.
Anyone else have any experience in this regions? Maybe I should just stick to altering the main routes huohu
Also tried changing around Qing Zhou but it cuts any changes off near it.

I think it's because that area is "chapter 0". You might be able to fix that using my "mapping chapters" post.
Quote:Also found a spot in that area where it makes the sound like I'm going into a fort, and then I show up in some unknown area walking around aimlessly. You walked totally out of bounds.
As a rule of thumb, it's best to use regions where you could already walk around in DoaE. Others are possibly unplayable and out of bounds.
Quote:Also tried changing around Qing Zhou but it cuts any changes off near it.That's a special area where a cave shows up later. Any region where an event triggers a map change (Qing Zhou cave, Gui Yang bridge, etc…) doesn't seem to play by the same rules. For now I wouldn't touch those areas until we know more about it. So in short:
– Don't try to walk on an area that's not in the original game (block off ones that aren't).
and
– Don't edit a region that changes when an event happens.
Other than that, edit away! :D

ModeratorYeah, I had that issue. I found there is a "grass" map tile that has a warp associated with it. It warps you to a place with all kinds of bridges… Been there! Anyways, yes you cant edit areas that have events like north of nanyang, south of Gui Yang, north of Xu Zhou, etc. Hey, youve got goofy rivers just like me ehehe.

If one of you is motivated enough you could work on better organizing the tiles in the DOAE_EditortablesCategories folder using the DOAE_Editormaptiles info. Maybe there needs to be a shore and a noshore category.

Thanks huohu . I do recall reading this before, I guess I needed to experience it myself to learn it.

Yea dudes, it's hard to tell what the water looks like on the edges of those pics.
Organizing the tiles would be useful. I just went through and counted 58 different no-shore water images in maptiles. Probably enough to have it's own category.
Can I just create a new folder and it'll show up with DoaEditor map editing? Or does it have to be hard-coded into the program? Guess I'll test it here…

Guess I'll test it here…I think you can just add the new folder and restart Destiny of an Editor. If you get them organized really well zip up that folder and upload it somewhere. Niahak can probably include your organization in the next version.

ModeratorOut of curiosity, which version of the Qingzhou area did you edit? The version before the hole? The version without the hole? The version after you defeat the turbans and the hole goes away? All three?

KeymasterWell I edited all of them, but the one with Qing Zhou + the cave is the one that doesn't change at all.
Just trying to keep it simple now. Made a river that goes all the way south and west to where Tie Men Xia is. Still need to find the right water spaces, thought I did but it's tricky.

ModeratorRivers are the hardest tile to lay and make look semi-believable. However, they add so much more than DOAE 2 which was just mountains everywhere it seemed because I can tell it would have been a heck-of-a-lot easier to make maps without odd looking coast lines.

KeymasterIt's just impossible doing the coast lines right now. For me, I can tell the coast lines on the top or the sides, but for the life of me I can't figure out if there is a coast on the southern tip of a map tile until I go and check it manually.
