I'm staring a DoaE Mods Facebook page to hopefully get DoaE modding out to a wider audience. I haven't put much on it yet but I do plan to. One of the first things I want to do is a "History of DoaE Modding" section which I would need LYS's help on.
I know it all started with "Huo Hu's Adventure" but I didn't get very involved in 2009 or 2010ish so I'd like to hear a history from LYS, Atma, James, and more to put together a "history".
The page is here:

Seriously, though, I don't use facebook; they've had WAY too many PR disasters, and will likely bow out in the not-too-distant future.
January 7, 2013 at 11:19 pm #44914NiahakModeratorIf you're looking for history, From my perspective the timeline looks something like:
Oct 2007 – The original Huo Hu's Adventure http://the-scholars.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18327 , DOAEditor begins development
Apr 2008 – Text Editor begins development separate from DoaEditor
Sep 2009 – Text Editor integrated into DoaEditor, Map-making released
Flipping through some of these old topics yielded some pretty fun memories, like:

Hmm, Xuzhou townsperson wants to join up. What could possibly go wrong?
…Oh.
…Touche.

I like the logo a lot. Great work!

January 8, 2013 at 4:11 am #44918MiDKnighTModeratorFYI I've added a bunch of history to the timeline.
That said, it looks like Oct-Nov 2007 was a fun time to be here. 5 people working on mods at the same time!

Actually, it was like that around here just about 1 year ago, unfortunately, none of those mods came to fruition ie; Nanman Mod, Liu Biao mod, Jin Xuan; Conqueror of Worlds, Rise of Ieyasu, and Yuan Shao's Revenge, and I think Jiang Wei was even working on some mod with "Bahamut" ala Dong Zhuo recoloring was being made but I don't remember the name of that one, but they were all being worked on last year.

January 9, 2013 at 5:29 pm #44921MiDKnighTModeratorQuote:Patience, young grasshopper; the mods will show up in time!I'm convinced that either we will never see the Jin Xuan mod or that it will be so amazing that the boards will crash from all the people wanting to play it and Capcom cuts a deal with Atma to release it as an iPhone/android game/app. Then the publicity of the game will spread interest about the Three Kingdoms and the History channel will start running shows about it. They will even bring it up on "Ancient Aliens" where there's a theory that Jin Xuan was really an alien because he was so awesome.

It all started with wanting to use Huo Hu and all those idiots like Song Yong (and have their soldiers grow). And our old buddy Taishi Ci's DoaE comic.
That video is great though, looks good and I had a lot of laughs watching it. One thing I noticed is the Dong Zhuo mod saying by cabalpapa…but the mod used with the Eunuch's was the one I started after his and didn't finish.
I pimped the video on the Lordyuanshu Facebook page, that might help. I should make you two admins so you guys can post stuff more regularly there if you want. Almost 170 fans, not that that's a huge reach lol but many are DoaE fans.

Yes, the Eunuch text came from your DZ mod.
To learn more about the history I looked at old posts from the boards. Oct-Nov 2007 looked like a great time to be here. The possibility of modding DoaE + DoaEditor was just starting and everybody was all over it.
February 11, 2013 at 5:48 pm #44925Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea late 2007 was definitely the gold rush of DoaE hacking. Guess it's natural to have people cool down after that initial period. Our hacking capabilities were so bare-bone back then too, it's crazy to think of what goes on now compared to back then.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingFebruary 12, 2013 at 2:57 am #44926MiDKnighTModeratorFor me, after I played the Cao Cao mod and read Meteorstrike's ground breaking thread ( http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/563402-destiny-of-an-emperor/47999342 ) I took the red pill. And like Neo, I entered a world of hell, otherwise known as 6502 assembly code.
