Participanti was just thinking about how much i love the 2nd DoaE, and i was wondering why we have never really had much brainstorming about modding the 2nd one. with so many innovations we now have to the 1st one, do you guys think something like this might be possible in the future? i've always wanted for so long to play the Wei/Wu mods (but i can't play a game i can't read! :P ), what is your guys input on it?

ModeratorI know that personally I never liked the battle system quite as much as DOAE original. I prefer the stock DOAE as it was easier and faster paced and also I liked having 60,000 soldiers instead of just 9999. Also I like DOAE music better too. :)
I think meteorstrike did some modding on DOAE2 but I haven't bothered with it too much. DOAE2 was much more story driven around Zhuge Liang than the original DOAE also.

ParticipantI couldnt get into it for how slow it was compared to the original, and the music was better in the original too.
You can kind of tell, even the mega man games from the era of DOAE 2 had the same sound, where as the first 3 mega man games were like how the original DOAE was, which were equally awesome lol.

ModeratorActually, the Mega Man games had bun bun as the music specialist who also worked on the street fighter titles I believe as he was essentially the "house musician" of capcom for quite some time. Yeah, the later mega man games like 5 and 6 and DOAE 2 sort of took a more 'jazzy' approach which never sounded quite as good in my opinion.

ParticipantDoaE2 allows you to recruit any general you wish and you will not receive the most powerful weapons in the game without working so hard, those things are just an addition to an already great game.
DoaE gave birth to Huo Hu.

ModeratorQuote:I think meteorstrike did some modding on DOAE2Yep. He had been tinkering with it. And he would be a great person to get the ball rolling on DOAE2 modding. He's the guy (along with James and LYS) that really got the ball rolling with DOAE1 modding.
Unfortunately it looks like this idea lost steam, either because of lack of interest on his part or lack of interest here.

ParticipantI cant say I didnt like the idea behind some of the mechanics like having a stat bonus based on terrain, or generals being restricted to specific weapons.
I just wish it had been sped up a bit more in the overworld lol.

ModeratorActually, what pained me the MOST with DOAE2 was the 'back and forth' you had to do so much of. Like a whole huge cave for some juice or the or a whole mountain just to kill a snake. There was VERY little rewards for those long quests in DOAE2, just lots of running around and the cave/mountain/battle music was horrible but the mountain was the worst.

ParticipantAgreed, I didnt like the music quite as much as I did for the majority of the original DOAE.

Participantthe game is still on the same level as the 1st one in my opinion, i think the modding of this one would be absolutely awesome :)
