ParticipantHello :-)
I know there’s a sticky about the Zheng Letter trick, but it hasn’t been active in over a year and I can’t find a "rules" posting, so I’m not really sure what the norm is for reviving dead topics… anyway.
So my problem is this: I have three states saved near the Wu Alliance chapter:
1. After passing the Battle of Chibi
2. Before activating the battle, at Chaisang, but having everything ready for it
3. Just about to fight Cao Ren in the forest (so in Jingzhou, but before I even meet Sun Quan).
My dilemna is that I’m having trouble pulling off the Zheng Letter trick with Lu Meng and Zhou Yu, both of whom I was hoping to recruit. First of all, I have 7 officers (Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Zhuge Liang, Guan Ping, Zhou Cang and Lu Su) and can’t find a billeting to unload some of them. Am I just missing it or something? I think they’re the buildings with the flag icons, right? I know Lord Yuan Shu’s guide to the trick said you shouldn’t have more than 3 people in your party when you try the letter, but if I can’t find a way to drop them off I don’t know how I’m going to pull that off. So, what should I do? I guess I could wait until I hit another castle later on with a billeting, but I don’t think I’ll have a way to get back to Wu if I do that.
So sorry if this has been brought up before, but any help I could get would be greatly appreciated, because I’m at a total loss of what to do.

ParticipantThanks for pointing me in the right direction, but I still don’t understand how I can get my party down to 2 or 3 like it says to in the Zheng Letter Guide. Or am I just supposed to use it, get Zhou Yu, and then they’ll be in my billeting or something for me to grab later?
EDIT: I tried using the letter on Sun Quan right before Chibi. It gave me the Yuan Shao line, but I don’t know if anyone actually joined because I already had a full party. However, Zhou Yu disappeared from the castle!
Is he going to be in my billeting once I finally capture a castle with a billeting or have I done something wrong?

KeymasterYep that’s it. When those three are there (Zhou Yu Lu Meng Zhang Zhao) just keep using that letter and all three will disappear. Later on you will find them in your billetting. Problem is I don’t think there is billetting for a while.

ParticipantYeah, what’s up dude, i don’t remeber being all to impressed with the wu officers, mostly because they can’t be tacticians I beleive.

ParticipantIt’s more of a vanity than a utility; I’m a big fan of Zhou Yu in general. The Dynasty Warriors games never made him look very good I thought, but he’s got a cool outfit in Dynasty Tactics. In any case, he’s better than Zhou Cang and has my second highest soldier count, so he’ll do ’til Xiahou Dun I guess.
Anyway, I’ve got him now, thanks everyone for all your help! I might suggest putting a note on the Zheng Letter page explaining that you just have to wait until you find a billeting, but maybe something to that effect is there and I just missed it :-

Participantdynasty tactics!! awesome! no one here plays that! what a great game! yes zhou yu was fun in that version as was sun ce! however, he’s not too impressive in doae 2, but keep trying, it’ll work for you…

ParticipantDynasty tactics was pretty sweet, I enjoyed the first more than the 2nd but either way I bought both.

Participantthey’re must plays for rotk and doae fans! the scenarios are a little off track, but awesome to think of the what if’s. such as conquering all of china with lu bu! that was sweet!
i didn’t like the idea of xiahou dun rebelling against cao cao, but that was my only complaint.

ParticipantYeah that was dumb, I lied how gao shun was like the biggest badass in the game.

ParticipantI own DT2, and am currently working on getting all of Lu Bu’s endings first, especially after seeing them on YouTube.

ParticipantYes, DT2 is wonderful, such an excellent musical score. Which reminds me, if anyone happens to have it, I’d do just about anything to acquire it…
Anyway, my only complaint is that there are 8 scenarios and they all take so LONG :-(
