ModeratorAs in cloned character movesets? Not sure, I only played DW6 b/c it was on PC. DW7 I hear is lackluster mainly b/c it doesnt have a "free mode" like all other games had.

ModeratorDwindling officer count in DW6, free mode gone in DW7…. it's as if Koei is getting lazy. >_>

ModeratorI always thought the voice acting never really fit a lot of characters. I remember playing Samurai warriors 2 and I thought most of the voice acting was spectacular. Then warriors orochi came out and it sounded like they just recycled voice actors from DW.
I've felt they're just not original enough with the series in terms of new gameplay concepts. The only big changes are just more crowd-clearing moves but nothing really added in terms of gameplay.

KeymasterI haven't even played DW7 yet. Sounds easy and boring though. Character interactions are generic.
6 isn't much better, though I did play that quite a bit.
One thing about 7, there are still a TON of clones. Like Sima Shi, Liu Chan, and other 'dagger' users are essentially the same, outside of their special EX moves (of which there are only 2, and I think only 1 'equipped' at a time).
This series peaked early, at DW3. Dynasty Warriors 3 I still play once in a while and when I played it in 2002 I was just stunned how addictive the game was. Couldn't believe the hours I was logging into a 'fighting' game, but really it had strategy / RPG elements mixed in. But what made it was that each character had a unique musou mode, unique enough moves, and the difficulty balance on Hard was just brilliant. Even now I play on Hard and it's a fun challenge.
So yea, I would play one of the older ones over those two. Can't say for sure about DW7 tho.
