Alright, I’m opening this topic so that people who need help for DW5:Empires, or simply want to comment, might do it here. So here’s the first comment: Mine!
Koei did a great job on this one, we have much more the feeling of an ROTK than we had with DW4: Empires. There are more foreign policies, more tactics and specials, and the specific date, not as turn based as the other one. Also, as you gain cities, you can do more policies in one turn, and you don’t have to do two that you don’t like: you can simply choose one that fits your needs with assign. I have all policies, which really helps a lot! Also, what’s good is that you don’t have only the Historical and fictionnal scenario: You start with a fictionnal scenario and… the Yellow turban Rebellion scenario! And as you do historical scenarios, you unlock more of them, until Chi Bi (That’s unfortunate, but at least I won’t be stuck with Liu Chan or a generic Cao Rui as a leader :P). As you finish your first historical scenario, you unlock more options at the beginning of a game: Like Officer Death (Yes, execution  ), Number of officers max by force (As you start you have three options there, you have Limited, which the max is 20 officers by force. You have normal, which is the default one, with a max of 50 officers, and also many, which the max is 100. After you finish an historical scenario, you get few, which means you’ll be stuck with the basic 6 officers you start with, and can’t get more. And you also unlock MAX, which means you could have 6 officers in every cities, that is 150 officers.), you also unlock how you can "annex" another ruler (At start, you have only "Ruler", which means that when you take an enemy’s capital, you get all the cities he controlled. You unlock Isolate, which means you have to isolate the enemy capital by your forces, before you can get all cities in your control. You also unlock No, which means that even if you take the capital by any means (Except the "Surrender" policy), the enemy ruler will still control all of his cities, will only change of place, except if you use evil ways and execute him (NEVER do this on Liu Bei, though, worst error EVER!)), and the last option you unlock is time limit (Yes, on the first game, you will "only" have 50 years to conquer everything, because the default is on, but trust me, 50 years, is more than ENOUGH! But it is the only way to get the bad ending though… What you unlock is the option "NO", which means you can play until the year 2000 without having to worry (NOTE: You can’t do this if you have "Officer Death" on, because if on, the officers will die of old age, I don’t know for created characters, though, can somebody confirm?)). Also, there is a free mode that permits you to do the battle you want, and even the special battles (Like Yellow Turban Rebellion, Hu Lao Gate, Guan Du, Chi Bi and the rumored Yi Ling) once you unlock them! This game is simply great, and I recommend it, since before a battle, there is the "OPTION" menu, which permits you to play any tunes you want, but wait! Not just from DW5, there are the ones from DW2 to 5! So for thoses who liked the DW3 musics like I did, there’s your chance to have good memories back! Always funny to have the Shu version of Yi Ling when you are outnumbered! Haaa… Good old memories, but bad too… Damn thoses fifth weapons on DW3 :XL!
So go on and post your comments, that is, if you have the game, if not, just read what I’ve written about it!

I could see this working well…
"Exotic Traitors" at Guan Du
"Gravity" at Yellow Turban Rebellion
"Yellow Storm" at Chang Ban
And "Men of Intellegence" would work anywhere.

So far I only have three of them, Yuan Shao’s, Dong Zhuo’s, and Lu Bu’s. Yuan Shao wasn’t too bad, but the others…Meng Huo’s is going to be ridiculous, and I don’t even want to think about Sima Yi’s.
July 14, 2006 at 12:33 pm #20394Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterSounds like they did a good job upgrading the RotK part (like you say). Is this for the PS2 or XBox 360? I assume PS2 but I’m surprised they have that music feature in there. I’ve been playing a lot of DW3 lately because I have my PS2 version maxed out but not my XBOX one and I must say, it’s definitely the best DW game around and that can be said about the music too. Wall Crusher at He Fei (Wei side) is good stuff and that level in general is crazy.

July 14, 2006 at 7:41 pm #20397Perhong_AngtongParticipantHummm… Well now I’m at the part of unlocking movies and artworks, dang, and one of thoses CG movies will be hard to unlock, I must play as cao cao, make sure he’s executed, choose Cao Pi as successor, putting Sima Yi and Cao Pi in Xu Chang, and then wait for Wu to invade Xu Chang. I don’t have problems with the last part, it’s the part of killing my ruler that shall be hard.

October 3, 2007 at 8:35 am #20401RickyParticipantPlay the last year of the game, play as Wu and take Chang Sha, then just wait for Shu to attack you then you play the battle.

Yup, that’s right. Just take the last scenario and once shu gets the shu territories, attack/don’t defend Chang Sha.

November 6, 2007 at 9:44 am #20403RickyParticipantToday I was playing the game, and then it shock me. How dull the AI diplomacy is. Yuan Shao asked for an alliance, I say no. Later he attempts asking another 30 times, I keep saying no. And it comes up again, I guess I was confused by always refusing it, and I accepted it. That cost me dearly. Yuan Shao begs too much. He could have just been less persistent, and more noble. The bastard!

November 10, 2007 at 8:10 pm #20404Perhong_AngtongParticipantBah, you could just have waited for you to become Emperor, and then you make him surrender!
