ParticipantBefore you recruit Estella in Alma Kinan, she asks you to find the men-only village of Gordius. Suikoden 5 reveals there is such a village in Falena…either she thinks she’s lying or she has a horrible sense of direction.

ParticipantNot to my knowledge. Even if she was, she’d be 33 years younger than she is in Suikoden 3.

KeymasterSuikoden V is 33 years before Suikoden III? Do you know the years between all of them?
I mean Georg looks the same age, maybe a little younger, than he was in Suikoden 2

KeymasterSo Suikoden IV is the first Suikoden timeline-wise? Hm…did not know that. I knew III was the latest though.

ParticipantWell technically Suikoden Tactics has a prologue that takes place about 7 years before 4, it has Lazlo and Snowe as kids.
Edit: I took another look at Suikosource and it seems 5 is actually 12 years before Suikoden 2. I’m sure I saw it say it was 18 somewhere though…

KeymasterSo if five is 12 years before two what does that make suikoden one to suikoden two then? still three years? this is all so confusing, i should go to suikosource…

ParticipantSuikoden 1 starts 6 years and ends 3 years before 2, it seems the games spans three years.

KeymasterReally? Took me about 15 hours to beat that game with everything.
I miss those days. Games are so fucking drawn out now. Seriously I feel like I’ve been walking around on the "world map" on Suikoden III for 20 of my 50 hours played so far….

ParticipantI think the basic games haven’t gotten much longer, they just lengthen the play time with lots of fetch quests and filler dungeons.
What a lot of games these days seem to lack is challenge. And I don’t mean frustration. I think Luca Blight is a good example of a challenge: it takes three battles and a duel to kill him. But imagine him being so overpowered that you have to spend hours leveling just to put a dent in him (or the flip side, him being so weak you kill him in like two turns). That would ruin the experience.

KeymasterI’m going to finish this game today I think. Except I don’t remember where I am on the game or on the guide.
