I would have to go with Cao Zhang. For his bravery, his honesty towards his father, and the fact he doesn’t get so selfish or jealous in the novel. He was also known to have taken interest in martial arts as a young boy. Soon decides to be a warrior instead of a Scholar.

November 28, 2007 at 2:33 pm #30863huaxiongParticipantZhao Yun is my favorite…
November 28, 2007 at 10:35 pm #30864RickyParticipantZhao Yun is overrated. He never fought in Chang Ban. :)

Outside of novel, it probably wouldn’t be him… but it’s hard not to enjoy his accomplishments from the time he saves Gongsun Zan to the battles where he kicks butt at 60+ years old.
November 29, 2007 at 1:14 am #30866thechieftainParticipantI wonder if zhao was really as badass as the novel makes him out to be, the novel really hypes up shu officers.

What? He killed Xiahou En and took Cao Cao’s sword and used it to kill off other generals.

In history he didn’t fight, in that battle. He just got away with peer luck that they didn’t catch up to him. He just had Liu Shan and high tided out of there.

November 29, 2007 at 5:52 pm #30869thechieftainParticipantI thought the only fighting he did was trying to get liu shan out, other than that I don’t think he did much, but I could be wrong.
November 29, 2007 at 7:44 pm #30870ZhouTai50ParticipantZhao Yun DID fight at Changban. His accomplishments there just weren’t as impressive as the novel states. He raided maybe a unit of 100 disorganized soldiers to rescue Liu Shan. Never killed Xiahou En, though, who is fictional.
November 29, 2007 at 7:54 pm #30871thechieftainParticipantThat’s what he did. ran through some guys and saved a child that later ruined the empire. I don’t know if that counts as helping or hurting, I guess he didn’t know at the time.
November 29, 2007 at 9:00 pm #30872huaxiongParticipanthistorically he did cut his way through some soldiers and officers, but yea xiahou en is only novel-wise.

Hm nope. He only ran through them. That doesn’t mean he stood and fought 100 men. Like I said, he just got the boy, and ran out of there. In the novel, he kicked a lot of butt though!
