KeymasterThis looks like quite a package, makes me wish I had a PSP. I know it's the 5th time Final Fantasy IV has been released but this is more my type of remake; still 2D, just more smooth, and the classic characters (and probably gameplay too). Not to mention The After Years with Cecil and Rosa's kids. That wasn't something I'd go and play standalone (granted I don't have a Wii) but considering it comes with the base FFIV game I think it'll get more people to play it. Finally there is some Gallery Mode in this package, not sure how that is going to work though (Whether it shows pictures of all the FFIV renditions or just this one)?
If you've played or seen FFI or FFII for the PSP, the graphics look a lot like that.
Here is a battle in the Giant of Babel

Left side of Baron Castle

Some first thoughts are I wonder if you can do the Ability transfer thing that you could in FFIV DS. To be honest I hope not because even though it adds more to the game, it made it too easy after you got some key ones like Counter and Fast Talker.

ModeratorBack on the remaking train, I see…
Unfortunately, I'm just not interested in remakes, as generally the main differences are a graphics upgrade (whoop-de-doo…) and a total butchering of the translation. :(

ParticipantI have this game on my Wii. It's not a remake, it's a sequel to FFIV. It takes place 10 years after the events of the first story and stars Cecil and Rosa's son amongst other characters that were more of "B" players in the first game. Not a bad play, definitely more difficult than the original though.

KeymasterYea DA. Not a true remake :P
After Years would be one of the few reasons I would want a Wii or access to it. I've heard there is much with Golbez + Kain. That'd be cool with me, more backstory on the classic characters. I think this port plans on improving The After Years too so we'd have the penultimate version here.
Difficulty is fine. That's one of the things I'm hoping they take over from the DS version; not necessarily the same boss strategies and what-not but the challenge from that game was nice for the most part.

ModeratorYou have great taste in games LYS. This is my 2nd fav game all-time after DoaE.

Keymasterhaha, thanks MiDKnighT. This is definitely one of my favorites too though deciding between the SNES-era Final Fantasy's is kind of splitting hairs for me. Anyway I am a sucker for this game and all these new versions but I really think this will be sweet – especially considering I haven't played The After Years (though to be honest, the main game is what still interests me the most).
I got some more images, when I get a minute today or tomorrow I'll post the other media Square Enix has released for this.

ParticipantI honestly find this game interesting, but unfortunately for me I don't have the patience to go through a RPG. lol. Tell me if there's anything sexual involving Rosa, though.
December 26, 2010 at 1:47 am #38548Sirazrael
ParticipantI don't know how interested you'd be in Rosa now given that this one is 10 years after the last one. I suppose if you're into cougars :-) . I wouldn't mind some live action Rosa and Rydia though except back in the day  .

KeymasterWTF Link lol you must have just hit puberty, every post you have is lewd now. I know LYS is censor-free but please spare us this gross commentary if you can help it.
Now uh have a Merry Christmas everyone, I'll post the images here soon.

ParticipantLYS, puberty doesn't mean you have to grow up. I've been lewd all my life. However, I will try to digress some of my more childish fantasies as well.

ParticipantI actually believe this is the compilation currently being run as "Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection" being released in Japan on March 24th for the PSP. I think you just got some advance screenshots. So that means it's not only going to have The After Years but also the original FFIV. I imagine they'll keep the extra bosses that were in the DS version and probably make some updates from the Wii version of The After Years.

KeymasterYep you're right, Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection.
The images above are from that collection (the main FFIV game).
I wonder how they'll do the bosses in this one. The FFIV bosses in the DS had different strategies but now they're going back to the old 2D graphics so I wonder if the strategies go back to how they were in the SNES / GBA days? We'll see, this package is enticing though.
