Lord Yuan Shu has listed them in the text walkthrough. But since I notice a couple more, I hereby list them.
Hou Cheng — There are two in this game, one in Han Zhong and one shortly before battling Cao Cao. But the one in Han Zhong is actually named Hou Xuan in the Japanese and Chinese version. DOAE2 actually has only one Hou Cheng as a consequence.
Yang Xiu — The only Yang Xiu is the deadly tactician in Han Zhong along with Xia Hou Yuan. The one in Chen Cang is actually called Yang Qiu, who served Ma Teng initially. When Cao Cao killed Ma Teng, Yang Qiu served under Cao Cao.
In Chinese and Japanese, people’s names begin with last names. If a person’s name is John Smith, the Chinese and Japanese style write "Smith John." In these DOAE games, the last names of generals are listed first. For example, the name "Sima Yi". Sima is the last name while Yi is the first and given name.
Now wait a minute…wasn’t Hou Cheng one of the three officers who betrayed Lu Bu along with Song Xian and Wei Xu?
Yeah, that’s the second Hou Cheng (the real one).
Also, regarding the two Yang Xiu’s, I know of the tactician Yang Xiu. I think the other one at Chen Cang is actually Yang Zu though…not sure about that completely but that was my guess.

On the subject of out of place generals, why in the world is Shen Pei guarding Cao Cao’s ferry boat?
The second Yang Xiu is for sure Yang Qiu. Yang Qiu served under Ma Teng. After Cao Cao had murdered Ma Teng, Yang Qiu followed Cao Cao.
DOAE2 has many out of place generals, especially in the Wei stage. The only reason is that the entire Wei stage is made up. It is not real history. Cao Cao incorporates generals from the lords whom he defeated. He has people from Yuan Shao, Ma Teng, and Liu Biao.
By the way, Shen Pei does not appear in DOAE2. The Shen Pei who guards the ferry boats is a wrong translation. The accurate transliteration from Chinese is Xin Pi.

that makes a lot more sense having Xin Pi there instead of Shen Pei. Shen Pei was dead around that time right? Or did he serve someone else after Yuan Shao?

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingShen Pei served Yaun Shang, but was captured and refused to serve Cao Cao, so he was executed. His request that he face north during the execution (to face Yuan Shao) was granted, and he was given a good burial to honor his loyalty. His nephew Shen Rong, however served Wei (in fact, since his friend Xin Pi’s family was a victim of Yuan Shao’s senility, he actually opened the city’s gates to Cao Cao’s warmy — leading to his uncle’s capture!)
Ah that’s right I remember some Yuan Shao officer facing the north. I need to read through again :) That was an interesting section with the Yuan Family splitting up and fighting and getting slaughtered by Cao Cao.

I am a chinese,I know only a few English,
Yang Xiu has killed by Cao Cao in history,something in DOAE1 is funny .
But I realy like it very much.
Chinese gamefans almost love to use ZhaoYun .
Yea DoaE 1 is funny, it does not make sense historically :)
