ModeratorTell me Sima Yi's portrait doesn't look like Grumpy Cat in the original DoaE.

Moderator"NO." — Grumpycat.
But seriously, they do look somewhat similar.
Now, to find Eyebrow Cat's doppelganger…

ModeratorTartar sauce would be that cat's name :P

ModeratorTardar sauce, not Tartar sauce.
It's a minor, one-letter difference, just like Cao Cao vs Cao Bao. 8O
EDIT: For those who ask "Who's Cao Bao?", I was introduced to the three kingdoms era by RoTK2. The highest stat officer there was force leader Cao Cao (int/war/charm 95/91/95, equivalent to DoaE 242/232/242), and the lowest-stat officer was Tao Qian's officer Cao Bao (13/19/15, equivalent to DoaE 33/48/38).
…naturally, that made Cao Bao a cult hero on Gamefaqs' RoTK2 board. For the record, his stats in later RoTKs are around 36/69/28 (equivalent to DoaE 92/176/71). Not Zhang Fei stats, but not Song Yong stats either!

Eyebrow cat … hmmmmmm
Does seem to look kinda familiar, but having a hard time putting it with a name.

ModeratorQuote:How dare you compare that magnificent ball of charisma Cao Bao to that street rat Cao Cao :retard:Well, in RoTk8 they gave Cao Cao 68 war and gave Cao Bao 69 war. People were so startled that France had mass riots, Greece's economy nosedived, Somalia's government collapsed — again — and in england, someone knocked over a garbage can!

Moderator68….69 ?
you're kidding ?
i'd kick over a garbage can tooooooo

ModeratorWell, it's refering to 1-on-1 fighting, not army-leading — and to be fair, that would be the lowest stat for what I call the Mastermind archetype (Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang, Zhou Yu, Sima Yi, Oda Nobunaga, Napoleon Bonaparte…)
And yes, England is a silly place. In 2011 they had multiple riots, but the most popular video from the same day was this:

ModeratorCao Bao got destroyed by a drunken Fei.
Cao Cao butchered family.
I'd still say these numbers aren't quite right ;)

ModeratorTo be fair, Zhang Fei's a lot better at combat than the family.
Especially since Zhang Fei was in charge of a major city at the time and, therefore, had the city's guards to call upon.

ModeratorI have often heard that argument that Zhang Fei actually used strategy (think Yan Yan) and that Guan Yu should actually be lowered in his INT because with him it was mostly just charging in and chopping people up… or down, and look at how we was overcome by Lu Meng.
Cao Bao in my book ranked far above ROTK's portrayal of officers like the Yellow Turban officers who with their single digit stats made them on par with vegetables…
August 22, 2013 at 6:26 am #45795unfy
ModeratorWell, the book being for entertainment and stuff… it's gonna have to have vile evil bad guys without worth, godly good guys, and godly bad guys (re: yellow turbans, etc). The heavily Shu-leaning of it is a tad irritating for sure (given the book and stuff, I take Liu Bei as the biggest back stabbing glory hog there can be … not some humble guy of noble spirit forced into the limelight).
I've seen others discuss ZF the strategist as well.
I can easily see something along the lines of where ZF was fairly smart ass kicker with horrible people skills (high war/int, low chr), and GY was more a charismatic ass kicker (high war/chr, middling int).
Kinda drawing a blank, but GY didn't really present much in the way of strategy ?
August 23, 2013 at 12:07 pm #45798sonic.penguin
ModeratorFrom what I've heard people say, not really. He presents a good front, but winds up just being rather "meat-headish" in the end, which is probably why his officers turned on him just like Zhang Fei.
