ModeratorCool portraits. I only know a couple of those characters.
I'm still looking for my Shogun cameos if you need more allies & enemies. Ideas for allies:
Anjin-san (Captain Blackthorne)
Lord Toranaga
Lady Toda Mariko
Samurai Naga
Vinck
Ideas for enemies:
Lord Ishido
Captain Ferriera
Neither ally nor enemy (or maybe both):
Father Alvito
Vasco Rodrigues
Lord Buntaro
Samurai Omi (Enemy at first, ally later)
Lord Yabu (Enemy at first, ally later)

ModeratorOmi? sounds like that cartoon that was on years ago called samurai showdown with Jack spicer or something… anyways, I doubt this will be out before the new year for a beta, but Im working hard on getting the glitches out and making it semi-playable.
Sounds like shogun is based off of the portugeuse that landed in Japan and introduced firearms…
Anyways, I've made some HUGE terrain modifications, although it still resembles and keeps the integrity of some areas. The most difficult part is going to be chapter 7 particularly beceause there arent exactly a LOT of memorable generals for that chapter… and almost too many for chapter 8 >.>

It's about the first English/Dutch ship to land in Japan. The Portuguese had already been there for decades. At the time England and Spain/Portugal were at war –> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Spanish_War_(1585%E2%80%931604) which complicated matters for the main character, English pilot Blackthorne, as the interpreters when they landed were Portuguese who told the Japanese that they were pirates.
The whole story of "Shogun" is loosely based on the real life English pilot William Adams who landed in Japan in 1600, gained favor with Tokugawa Ieyasu, and even became a samurai and hatamoto as a trusted advisor and ship builder for Ieyasu.
Even if you don't use the Shogun characters, adding William Adams and some of the Portuguese Jesuits would be a historically accurate and interesting twist to the story.
Oh and did I mention?

ModeratorI've thought about adding in the portuguese at some point… but that is sort of an "addition" at this point before the main plot gets really set in stone.
eh dont worry, I'll be watching.

ModeratorDo you know the story of William Adams?

ModeratorIm trying to figure out what to do with the Wu area as it would technically be off the map of Japan out in the ocean… If I can figure out how to make cave exits work correctly and spit people out in the place I want, I think I might make it its own separate sort of zone…

ModeratorDid you watch Shogun yet? :D
P.S. – No I won't let that go. Especially since you're doing a mod for that time period.

ModeratorGiven how old the rotk cameos would be, they could use lighter hair colors! XD

ModeratorThe only beef I see so far is that everybody seems so overpowered. Goes back to the saying "If everybody's special, nobody is".

ModeratorTo be fair, virtually all of those officers were to-of-the-top officers, and only two of them (Shoun & Dosetsu) weren't playable uniques in SW3.

Quote:The only beef I see so far is that everybody seems so overpowered. Goes back to the saying "If everybody's special, nobody is".Yeah, thats kind of the idea, but I'm really only showcasing the main characters here :)
There will be lots of other filler characters that have their own strengths and weaknesses. I hated though how DOAE stock just had a bunch of 100ish stat guys facing your 200+ beefed out guys.
Actually, your armies will tend to lag behind these other beefed up guys. Kind of makes you wonder how Ieyasu survived this period… mostly by letting them kill each other probably

KeymasterNice portraits for Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, etc. What game are they from?

MiDKnighT does have a point, there.
Quote:The only beef I see so far is that everybody seems so overpowered. Goes back to the saying "If everybody's special, nobody is".This is a prevailing issue for these roms, IMO. Which is one reason I like playing weaker forces like Yuan Shu – when you're Wei there are so many sweet characters.

I hated though how DOAE stock just had a bunch of 100ish stat guys facing your 200+ beefed out guys. That said, it does make some sense; Shu was extremely top-heavy in terms of talent. Wasn't as deep as Wu's roster and certainly not even close to Wei's, but in terms of a top 5, Shu was hard to beat.
Nice New Years tease. I've got a new mod I'm releasing on New Years day as well. First rom of 2011. Was planning on owning the votes for next year but since all the Huo Hu awards will transfer to the next year, I guess it'll just join all the mods in that voting.

Update above for MidKnighT most matchups in game will be your guy:
vs. the other guy:
I havent even finished 1 full run through of the mod atm, but am 1/2 way through Chapter 8 in terms of modifications. I work slow but try to be pretty thorough. I will probably release a beta after Im somewhat satisfied w/ rebalancing issues. Undoubtadely, guys will get tweaked quite significantly.
Quote:Nice portraits for Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, etc. What game are they from? They are based off of ones from ROTK 6, but I drew them all by hand, took about 2-3hrs a piece. Glad they turned out decent.
