ParticipantYou know what occurred to me… the code that forces an item to appear in the first shop, such as a halberd, could probably be modified to cause Iron Ore or Dead Wood to be sold. I know Tony Hendstrom’s ‘Code Hut’ website had instructions for creating Game Genie codes that should work for this, but I just checked for it and didn’t see content on his site.
If someone is interested in a little project, that could be pretty cool.
Flipping on a code and buying Iron Ore would be nicer than starting a new game.

ModeratorThere’s probably a list of things sold at each shop in the rom somewhere. I’d imagine this is something we could modify in a hack, actually.
Item reference order is already known (well, to James and I ;) ), all you’d need to do is look for the item numbers in the order they appear at the shop.
i.e. 1) look at the order of items in the ROM (in hex). Say dagger and flail are 03 and 04, cloth is 20, bandana is 4A and leather is 21
2) search rom for 03044A2021 (assuming store sells dagger, flail, bandana, cloth, leather in that order – my memory’s a bit rusty).
As long as somebody replies to this topic so I think to check it tomorrow, I can find out where this stuff is located. I don’t know if it would help with making a game genie code for it, though…

ModeratorOof. Looks like it’s a bit rougher than I thought, since there are identical pointers to that table. I’m going to need to hit it with a harder hammer (doing it by hand gave me an error of at least 6 places…). It’ll take a bit longer, but it’ll get done sometime.
Unless nobody wants to be able to change the content of weapon/item stores ;)

Participant*Laughs* An interest in cheating has been re-kindled by DoaE 2.0.
My main interest was in rescuing people suffering from the open chest glitch.
