ParticipantI’m guessing the mods are all gone now, I’ve been looking to play the Turban mod but even the Download page is gone :(.

ModeratorOld old jin xuan mod probably should not be listed; it’s THAT obsolete.

KeymasterIt’s more developed than some of the other roms on there.
If people want to try the really old wacky shit with only general edits, by all means, go for it :huohu:

Moderator…if some mods are somehow even less developed than that old pre-pre-pre-alpha, it may be best to take them down too…

ModeratorYeah, I think so too. The mods that are just changing a few characters, while good at the time they were made, seem to be distractors from the mods that people actually spent time on, like months or years. While it’s cool that someone replaced Liu Bei with a generic officer portrait of Liu Yao with no other major changes to the story, it just is not something that really holds up to todays DOAE hacking standards like the Yuan Shao mod for example.

KeymasterHaha.
Well, anybody who plays those hacks are gonna see that they are plain white bread, and likely bail on them soon lest they wish to just play it for the hell of it.
It might be a good idea for me to re-arrange the mods into eras / completion level on that Rom thread. Ie the Sonic Penguin and Yuan Shao mods on the top, then the complete but not updated with 2012-2013 hacking standards (maybe one Yuan Shu mod fits in this category) and then the really old stuff like the Turban mod.

ModeratorIf you do so, make sure you rearrange the Jin Xuan pre-pre-pre-alpha into the “not seen by people other than LYS-the-person” section.

KeymasterOk I’ll put the Jin Xuan somewhere between Ieyasu and Rise of Lu Bu :huohu:

ModeratorYes… but only once we reach the year I finish it, 2042.
Seriously, though, you’ve played it; you of all people know (or SHOULD know) that there’s no reason to keep my pre-pre-pre-alpha on the mod page.

KeymasterStop being so modest.
Besides every time I try to delete it and save the thread, the site won’t let me do it.

Heh, well I wasn’t quite saying that you should totally fixate on our mods as I do think that there are other mods out there that really make an attempt to make the game “different” in a revolutionary way. For example, DOAE 2.0 while just vanilla DOAE makes extensive changes to officers and gameplay but ones like the “Lu Bu Mod” just changes a few characters and WAY overstats them to ridiculous levels which just seems lazy in my opinion for what that’s worth :P
I would probably make a section of Incomplete Mods and one with Complete Mods or something to that effect but you don’t want to turn people off to DOAE mods and not play any of the other mods out there because they are playing something that isn’t quite up to snuff. For example, playing the “lu bu mod” might give players all they need to see about modding and thus never even try the “Rise of Lu Bu Mod” even though it’s completely different but in the same category. :cactuar:

ModeratorIt seems that all of the “complete” mods have Huo Hu awards and the non-complete ones don’t. That’s a good way to separate them…
November 3, 2013 at 7:09 am #52675DragonAtma
ModeratorLook, LYS, here’s what you should do:
Take down the pre-pre-pre-alpha and put up Namestatfix. it’s a rotk2 mod (SNES version, of course) that fixes everyone’s stats, fixes everyone’s names, and makes every single force playable.
It’s also a complete mod, not a pre-pre-pre-alpha.
