KeymasterMy son is enjoying Mega Man 2 quite a bit. I forgot how awesome and hard these games were. 2 was probably the pinnacle, though I like Mega Man 3 a lot as well.
I also have Mega Man 1 for NES but it seems to be impossible. Ice Man's stage is very hard and annoying, and even when I get through that I can't get through the Wily level at the end for the life of me.
Just looked around and found something called Mega Man – The Wily Wars for Sega Genesis (re-release in Japan only for Mega Man 1-3). Looks pretty cool.

KeymasterHaha thank you. Mega Man 2 is hard but from playing it so many times as a kid, I don't have too much trouble with that one.
Mega Man 1 is the one I need a cheat for, and actually thinking about I think I went through the game once on emulator many years ago and cheated on the Wily levels just to see the ending. Like back in the late 1990's with Nesticle when I first got into emulators.

ModeratorMM1 is downright brutal yes.
Most folks don't consider the pause glitch to be too evil. In short: electric man 3-way shooting ray + pause/unpause frequently as it passes through enemy = lots of hits on enemy. Particularly handy for the yellow demon.
MM1/MM2 do have awesome music indeed.
There are alot of good metal remixes, but… the elecman from here is mmmmmmmm:
As far as my personal experience: i rented 1 and 2 as a kid, got my ass handed to me, and i'm *STILL* afraid to play *ANY* megaman game.
Yet I have no problems beating Blaster Master or Bionic Commando or Zelda2. Shrug.

ParticipantLord, check this out.

This Youtuber does no-hit runs of each level in all the classic style Mega Man games (not the X series, but another Youtuber does those). This includes the boss fights. Watching his runs has really helped my game, and I think it might help you get through your trouble spots. Although I enjoyed it very much as a youngster, and I still play it from time to time, 1 is actually my least favorite in the series due to certain aggravating points. As a side note, I felt as though the newer Mega Man games try to recreate that old timey frustration. However, a great number of people seem to love those newer ones. Good luck, and happy gaming.

KeymasterHey Craig, nice of you to stop by.
I've seen some no-hit runs of Mega Man before, pretty absurd. I do pretty well for the most part, just have some trouble on Mega Man 1. Mostly Ice Man's level where you have to jump on those randomly-moving things (that like to shoot from both sides and knock you off the cliff).
Mega Man 2 and 3 have been quite easy once I remembered what each person is weak against. Some tough platforming spots but I usually do fine in those.
I never really played the Mega Man X games, though I did hear they made Mega Man 9 a while back that was supposed to be retro-like, similar to the NES ones.

ParticipantDidn't I have a post here? This place is now riddled with spam. BTW Hey LYS, nice to see you again too. I had started making videos at one point where I beat various Mega Man series bosses with just the buster, taking no damage.

Quote:This place is now riddled with spamYea it's awesome isn't it? They have some way of like putting in posts retroactively. We are upgrading to bbPress 2.4 soon here so the forum will be a bit different and hopefully less bot-infested.
Quote:I had started making videos at one point where I beat various Mega Man series bosses with just the buster, taking no damage.Nice. My son always wants me to play them so I'm getting pretty good at them. And gaining more respect for 4-5-6, which I always thought were more dull.
Hell, he's even got me playing 7 and 8, which I had never played before. They're ok, but not the same.

ModeratorQuote:And gaining more respect for 44 was the first mega man I bought from the store and is so underrespected in comparison with 2 and 3. It has some great tunes by Yasuaki Fujita (aka Bun Bun) and I think is really awesome in gameplay w/ the charge buster and special attacks. Bright Man and Dive Man are still semi-impossible to me w/ Toad Man being the easiest boss to beat in megaman history.
