ParticipantThe 160×160 size doesn’t apply to me. I’m too cool for it.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

ParticipantI’m too used to Invision boards that have the automatic resizing. At least I didn’t make this my avatar

KeymasterWe had automatic resizing but it got messed up when i installe the profile control panel. All in all my advisory to anyone running a phpbb forum is to not install mods for it, since it makes things a big headache when you want to do something simple like update. Eventually all the mods on this forum will go if we need to update, but for now things ar running smoothly enough

ParticipantMy current avatar is 175 x 144 pixels, should I obtain one that fits within the limits?

Take it from someone who has been running phpBB boards for a number of years now. The updates are far more important than the mods, at least in my view. I have seen my forums defaced on a few occasions because I haven?t installed the latest phpBB patches on time. I write all of my own forum changes by hand now, and when an update is released, I go through and re-edit the few small changes I do make. I keep a note of where and what they all are to make this easier.
Then again, you may not wish to share my stubborn nature.

KeymasterActually that is the exact conclusion that I came to when dealing with other php applications, having learned my lesson from this board
