Well here’s my introduction topic. Some people may know me from Gamefaqs SNES board, El Sallia, and various other places.
I’m in to single women who like playing video games and occas……….? oh sorry this isn’t that site……
Anyway I love the Langrisser series followed closely by the Fire Emblem series. Other than that I pretty much like any regular jrpg as well as crpg’s. And I also rate Phantasy Star IV higher than Final fantasy 7 but not by much:) PSIV was just super special to me.
Anyway I might not post much and when I do it may be COMPLETELY off base but you’ll learn to deal or ignore me and maybe you’ll have fun.

One last thing which Romance of the Three Kingdoms tells the story the best? Or would I be better off playing the DOaE games instead? Thanks.

I’m still meaning to play PSIV sometime but I may wait until it’s out on Virtual Console since I’m lazy. I just beat PSII a few weeks ago.
More or less like I posted at CoeS (though a tad more verbose)
None of the TK games tell the story that well – in the more recent (PS2) ones there’s a "prologue" before each scenario but it’s not very detailed, and although historical events can be triggered, most often things don’t follow history very closely.
DoaE1 follows some approximation of history where Liu Bei is the ultimate general and can do no wrong. DoaE2 is closer to the RTK story, but it starts a bit late.
I found the Dynasty Warriors games actually give you a better idea of the high points than you’d think. But DoaE2 may be your best bet.

P Star IV is better than FF7…I agree with you wholeheartedly there. I’d compare it more to the later SNES FF’s like 5 and 6 though since they are the same generation…but I’d still take P Star over them. There just was something about 4…it moved smoothly, the characters / story worked out well, battle system was pretty awesome turn based action. Also traveling through different worlds was fun too, though Dezolis was kind of boring save for the Lutz stuff.
Yea you gotta play DoaE 1 and 2. 2 has a more accurate story from Shu’s point of view. With the RTK’s you can be any ruler of course. I’d suggest RTK 2 and especially 3 but they are really the only ones I’ve put a decent amount of time into. It doesn’t really explain the story but it at least shows you which officers are where at which times (somewhat accurately).

I’ll look in to starting the DoaE games once I finish Der Langrisser-Chaos path, Phantasy Star II, Final Fantasy Crisis Core, and probably I’ll finish up Lost Odyssey or Blue Dragon since I’m so far in to them.
Now for my standard bounce around off topic ramblings, LYS I see your location is listed as Minn. do you by chance watch Twins baseball? If so Brendan Harrison grew up and played highschool ball were I live. Small world eh.

Well the Lordyuanshu Bar and the Huo Hu forum are great for off topic banter. It’s the backbone of this forum.
I do follow the Twins because they are on TV here…but truth be told I bailed on the Twins years ago and am a Chicago White Sox fan!
I know about Brendan Harris though, the 2b / ss. You grew up with him? That’s pretty wild.
Sounds like you have quite the backlog, but you have a PSP you are a lucky man with all the decent RPG’s / SRPG’s that came out for that recently. Xbox 360…I’m not so much a fan.

PSP games I have: Spectral souls, Generation of Chaos, Aedis Eclipse:GOC, Wild Arms XF, Final Fantasy Tactics(sucks, PSX version better), and Genisis Collection. Final Fantasy CC is rented from Gamefly. Also if anyone wants a referral to GF PM me and I’ll hook ya up:) Could help me get a DS Lite.
Anyway I stumbled on LYS back a few years ago when I think it was D on the El Sallia posted a link to your Final Fantasy Sega game. Whatever happened to playing through that? I noticed the last post was like in ’06. Language barrier that hard?
Speaking of hard anyone who reads this ever try Star field of relic dreams or STED for short?
Freaking hard ass game, Makes Phantasy Star II seem like a cakewalk.
Now to find a job in time to buy Persona 3 FES.
Tactics is better on PSX eh? Honestly I think I’d prefer that translation over this new talk they have…I don’t like it at all. Does the game motions seem slower to you or was that more of a rumor? It did look a little slowed down when I saw a friend play and summons were involved and such.
Final Fantasy Sega Game….it’s a very Final Fantasy-like game but it’s actually Destiny of an Emperor 3 for the Genesis. Taishi Ci (of our forum) wrote a FAQ for it actually a few years ago despite it not being translated yet.

And yeah, lordyuanshu hates the xbox 360 (he’s not too hot for FPS’s. Plus, the microsoft gaming companies don’t develop any new concepts for FPS’s anyway, and if not FPS then a rip off of another game).

No I believe its any you find now. As long as they were made after September of ’07. I know mine(got at Xmas and my cousins, got 3 weeks later) are both with the new Power supply and chip set up.
I agree the 360 has way too many FPS’s but so does the PS3. However I wanted the 360 cause at the time Mass Effect was exclusive to it and we all know if Knights of the Old Republic 3 comes out thats where its going. I mainly like the driving simulations and well the last Gran Turismo frankly sucked. Prologue however looks amazing. But I’m waiting on a PS3 till there’s a reason I need one.
I also have a Wii but it’s novelty is starting to wear off and I’m considering ebaying it but I know if I do that another Fire Emblem game will be announced so i’ll hold on to it.
Myself I enjoy older feeling style rpg’s and thats what I get from Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. Blue Dragon to me plays and feels like a Dragon Quest game, although it’s kinda sub-par compared to original Dragon Quest games. Lost Odyssey feels like Final Fantasy X’s love child and has some amazing story telling it. The dream sequences are freaking unreal and an early sequence, probably around the 5 hour or so mark is really sad. The game suffers from normal rpg stereotypes but frankly I don’t care, thats why I play rpg’s.

Gaming publications and media who pound on rpg’s for being stereotypical need to really and I mean REALLY step the hell back and look at the FPS market. Oh I see the difference, in FPS clone 1 you get the rail gun in level 3 and FPS clone 2 you get it in level 9. Oh and in FPS clone 3 its called a High Frequency rat a tat tat boom stick but in essence its the same damn thing.

Yes, I was working on this. I think I just got distracted with other things and quit playing it. Don’t trust any of the story stuff in there, I made it all up for my convienence. But D linked to this? Where was this?
For FES, I hope you can get the money in the next two weeks. :wink:

However the link went to the old guide you had started that only lasted two pages I think.
And yes I hope I get the money for FES to. Went to donate my manly goodness but sadly I’m not tall enough…..there’s a freaking height requirement for donating seedliness.
