ParticipantIt has been a while, but I’ve just encountered that old nasty glitch again! Coincidentally (though I’m quite suspicious of it) both officers populated in the second Luoyang gate battle this time through. It has been ages since I’ve seen both of them at that gate! I’m starting to wonder if the appearance of two officers there (Xu Rong and Li Jue, I believe, in the unedited DoaE… or Xu Rong and Guo Si) is a sign of pending corruption.
The first open chests I encountered were in that massive cave outside Nanyang. All but one of the spear chests were open. I got robbed of my spears! I fought a chunk of battles around and outside (not sure I fought thirty) in a half-assed effort to test a ‘fix’ that has been suggested to me, but they remain empty. So I’m probably going to have to re-start my new beta testing game too.
I would definitely appreciate it if some folks can play through in the new beta of Destiny of an Emperor 2.0 (I posted in it today) to verify that this problem is not associated with the ROM itself.

Participanti’ll take a look. i’m having a couple of glitches with names and stuff. also, i’m having troubles saving for some reason. i think these glitches lead to that really high tactical point level i got that one time…

You are? In your game?
Or in this version of DoaE 2.0?

ParticipantHaha… I started to get really nervous. I found 1013 gold in Guan Ping’s cave (same as last time) and two people appeared in the second Luoyang gate (same as last time). I used the walk-through-walls and no encounters codes to jump ahead to Yuan Shu’s cave, just to make sure the goods were there. They were.
Here is the variable that changed from this game and last:
In Guan Ping’s cave I got the gold, the Gold Key, and Guan Ping, in that order. That is how I’ve been doing that cave for years, as far back as I can remember. I haven’t encountered the open chest glitch for years, as far back as I can encounter.
In the bad game I took the wrong turn, so I got the Gold Key, Guan Ping, and then the gold. I wonder if that might have had something to do with corrupting the way in which treasures populate?

Participantyes, i was talking about my wu mod that i’ve been messing with. i’ll give your new version a whirl on tuesday….
i really believe that overlapping code creates some strange glitches in the game. too bad i couldn’t find out why the tp went so high…

ParticipantThe chest glitch is fixed by fighting in between 70 and 100 battles. I have done it several times and it works every time.

Holy crap… ouch! But that sure beats the hell out of starting a completely new game. If you’ve encountered the open chest glitch several times do you happen to recall some of the things you might have done to spark it initially? How do you go through Guan Ping’s cave?
Have you found the spears in Yuan Shu’s cave to be missing?
I’m also wondering, now, if it has something to do with the number of random encounters you battle before a certain point.

Participantwe’ll we have a "no random encounters" code now… :D

ParticipantOpened Treasure Chests and Missing Items
There, finally added this nasty bug to the secrets and glitches section of the Destiny of an Emperor page. Now we’ve at least got something to show people whenever they get screwed by this problem. I always felt bad for the people who wound up with no Iron Ore.

ParticipantI have went through Jing before yuan shao and notcied they were opened, not sure if this has anything but its a coincedence. I also have had the spears go missing, and the gold in guan ping’s golden key cave, the trident has been missing and most famously the iron ore.
I actually called nintendo hot line back in the day and they told me to fight 70-100 radom battles to refresh the treasure, the kicker is they told me not to enter any town or cave while fighting. But I’ve done it and its worked everytime, except on the trident.
